FL 101 – MANDARIN
NARRATIVE REPORT
August 8, 2020
Last Saturday is the last day of my Mandarin Class at BulSU-Graduate School online
class. I and my classmates have presented the topic assigned to us, the lesson assigned to me is
the second lesson out of 8 lessons in total in our Mandarin class, the lesson is about extended
family structure in China and busyness, for example, mang-busy, wo mang si le- it means I’m so
extremely busy, it is a slang phrase in China. In family structure: ye ye- grandmother, baba-
father, meimei- younger sister, etc.
Most of my classmates present, introduce, and teach some of the new words that are
aligned to the content of the lessons. I find Mandarin that it is truly hard to learn because some
words are the same in pronunciation and some are also same in spelling but has different
meaning based on the structure of the sentence.
In the last part of our session, Dr. Sarmiento has prepared conversational questions that
serve as the final oral exam.
Thank you Dr. Sarmiento laoshi for teaching us Mandarin most effectively and easily. Thank you
for putting efforts and patience in teaching us new words or new language. God bless! Xiexie,
Zaijan!
