Chu (2014) stated that marijuana is legal in 30 American states and the District of

Columbia for both medicinal and recreational purposes thus resulting to the increase daily and

dependence use in the United States of America. The broad coverage of introducing marijuana

by businesses for legalization somehow hides the public for overall health concerns (Abraham et

al., 2018). Loria and Welsh (2018) observed that there are online claims that medical marijuana

cancer. Whereas tobacco and alcohol have strict marketing restrictions and regulations. The

marketing of marijuana does not include public health warnings on the potential risks base on the

limited evidence of both benefits and harms (Steigerwald. et al., 2018). Nugent et al., (2017)

suggested that efforts on identifying and confirming the benefits and harms of consuming

medical marijuana. Marconi et al., (2016) mentioned that several benefits of medical marijuana

such as managing neuropathic pain showed low evidence to support such claims. Additionally,

gaps were found on claims that medical marijuana have beneficial long term physical and mental

health. With this research as a basis, using, consuming whether for recreational of medical

purposes, thorough medical researches should be conducted and identifying firm evidence-based

conclusion before legalizing medical marijuana anywhere.
