RESEARCH SCRIPT (PER SLIDE)

SLIDE 1

MinSCAT’s research agenda is in consonance with institutional, regional and national priorities
concerned that are clustered based on the areas of specialization/and offerings of the different colleges
and departments. The researches that may be generated are also in consistent with the thrusts and
priorities of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the National Higher Education Research
Agenda (NHERA) of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Department of Agriculture
(DA). The agenda and the indicative projects illuminate the need for the conduct of multidisciplinary
research. Multidisciplinary research boosts the perspective of faculty researchers on their own discipline
as well as leads to acquire insights on other disciplines. There are various research activities being
conducted by other agencies however these can be an opportunity to forge collaboration and
partnership to fill each other’s needs as far as research implementation is concerned.

Among the priority thrusts of the agenda was high valued crops and commercial fruit crops such
as banana, calamansi and other citrus fruits, lanzones, rambutan, plantation crops (coffee, cacao,
coconut); rice and corn; high-value vegetables and root crops; adlai. The approved Research Agenda was
implemented by conducting research about calamansi through value adding.

The institution has an approved Research Manual that serves as guide for faculty researchers of
the College of Business and Management. The research manual provides guidelines and procedures for
the administration and faculty on how to conduct research.

Administrators, faculty, students, and government agency representatives participates in the

formulation of research agenda bases for identifying institutional thrusts and priorities.

As a college/academic requirement, action research to test theory in practice are conducted by

students. Ms. Grasha Blanca, a BS entrepreneurship alumnus, conducted a business research entitled
Production of Calamansi Juice Concentrate with honey.

SLIDE 6

Proper facilities and equipment for the Business research entitled Production of Calamansi Juice
Concentrate with honey was used during the research. The student researcher was guided by the faculty
researcher which serves as her adviser.

Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology has an approved and adequate budget for
research. The business research of the Production of Calamansi Juice Concentrate with honey was
supported and funded by the institution for the whole duration of the study.

Though the conducted research entitled entitled Production of Calamansi Juice Concentrate
with honey has yet to be published, it served as a catalyst for several researches by other MinSCAT
faculty researchers and eventually published their study. In 2018, Ms. Mapalo, a MinSCAT student and
Mrs. Magno, a MinSCAT faculty researcher published their paper entitled Morphological Events on the
Development of Flowers, Fruits, and Seeds of Calamansi as well as the published study of Dr. Zamora,
Dr. Agutaya and Ms. Cabaral whom are faculty researcher of the institution and Mr. Atienza, a MinSCAT
student. The faculty researcher then became a member of the project between MinSCAT and SEARCA
for calamansi.

Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology has an approved Research Journal which
provides opportunities for faculty researchers to publish their study as well as can be utilized as a library
exchange of research publications with other Higher Education Institutions and agencies. The MinSCAT
research journal publishes research papers that are well-written and edited following the institutional
format.
