TASK 2: POSITIVE/NEGATIVE DEVELOPMENT

1. ARTICLES:
Proper nouns: Buckingham Palace, Cynthia, War and Peace

a. OTHER
As a determiner (+ uncountable or plural N):

As a pronoun (“other” or “others”):

b. THE OTHER
As a determiner:
+ Singular noun means the second of two things, people, etc.
- This computer here is new. The other computer is about five years old.
- The gift shop is on the other side of the street, directly opposite.
+ Plural noun means the remaining of a group of 3 or more:
- Joel and Karen are here, but where are the other kids?
As a pronoun: (The other/the others)
- He had his hat in one hand and a bunch of flowers in the other.
- She has three kittens; one is black and the others is all white.
c. ANOTHER
As a determiner (+ singular noun)
- Would you like another cup of coffee?
As a pronoun
