THE VERB
A verb is a word which shows an action. A verb is the most important word in a
sentence. It is an essential part of the predicate.
Example- Richa sang and danced with joy.
KINDS
1. Transitive Verb- It is a verb that accepts one or more objects. It answers
the question ‘what’ or ‘whom’.
Example- The shelf holds. (incomplete without an object)
The shelf holds three books. (complete with an object)
2. Intransitive Verb- It does not take an object. It does not answer the
question ‘whom’ or ‘what’.
Example-The train arrived on time. (no object is needed)
