Direction: Conduct an online/personal interview of an experienced or

distinguished teacher in a private or public school nearest to you.

Interviewee: Mrs. Alma D. Jamero, TLE teacher at Carmen National High School

Guide Questions for the Interview

1. What are the essential features of a K to 12 Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP)?

A Detailed Lesson Plan is a teacher’s guide throughout the class. It should

contain a detailed description of the steps a teacher will take to teach a

particular topic. The essential features of a detailed lesson plan includes the

objectives, timing, sequencing, differentiation, evaluation, and materials to be

used. The objectives should be clear and be met at the end of the lesson.

2. How did you plan your everyday lessons?

In planning a lesson plan is to first identify the topic to be presented. Usually it

is a continuation of the topic from the last meeting. Next, is identifying the

learning objectives as this serves as your guide in sequencing the lesson in an

engaging manner. In my lesson plan, I allot extra time for me to adjust my lessons

to students’ needs and focus on what seems to be more productive rather than

sticking to the original plan.

3. How did you integrate technology in your lessons?

During the pre-covid school days, I utilized powerpoint presentations, played

video demonstrations and pictures to the class, especially in my field of subject

where materials are not readily available. For example, in my topic about the use

of kitchen tools, there are some tools that aren’t available in our laboratory so I

showed video presentations available on the internet to my students for them to

visualize what each tool does.

4. What are the challenges you encountered in planning daily lessons? How did you
overcome these challenges as a classroom teacher?

Teachers consider lesson preparation to be a tough skill to master. I had

difficulties in preparing what activities I should prepare for my students. I had to

improvise activities for my students that can be easy for them to understand. Also

time management is an essential skill a teacher should practice.

5. What important advice can you give to a pre-service teacher in order to be

prepared in the battle of teaching in the 21st century classrooms?

First, is to always plan and prepare ahead of time. Be prepared, double

check and master your lesson plan. Second, always observe, listen and respect your
cooperating teacher as they play a crucial mentoring role in the early classroom
teaching experiences of a preservice teacher. And lastly, always be positive.
Teaching is a tough job and can be both metally and physically draining but seeing
the students enjoy the class can be rewarding.
