Math Semi – Detailed Lesson Plan in Kindergarten


Quarter 4 – Week 9

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
 Know the concept of addition.
 Add two sets of concrete objects or pictures up to quantities of 10.
 Appreciate the important of learning addition.

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities

(Flashing of numbers 0-10)
Let the pupils identify the numbers.
4. Review

(Ordinal Numbers) (Defining a thing’s position in a series)


The teacher shows a set of pictures and call a pupil to identify what
objects is the first, the fifth, the second and the fourth.

5. Motivation
Children before we proceed to our new lesson, we will sing first a
mathematical song.
“Counting Fingers”
(After singing the teacher ask some questions regarding the song.)

C. Developmental Activities/Discussion

This morning children, I will present to you a short story. Do you want to
listen? But before I will read to you the story, let us read first the motive
questions.
Motive Questions:

 Kinsa ang maong bata sa istorya?


 Unsa ang paboritong pagkaon ni Lina?
 Pila kabook mansanas ang nadawat tanan ni Lina?

Si Lina
Si Lina ay usa ka buotan nga bata. Ganahan kayo iyang mama ug
papa sa iyaha. Ang paborito nga pagkaon ni Lina ay mansanas.
Usa ka buntag, mihawa ang iyahang mama ug papa aron mamalit ug
pagkaon nila. Pag-uli nila sa balay nag dala sila og pasalubong para kay Lina.
Gitagaan ni mama og duha (2) ka mansanas si Lina. Nalipay kayo siya og
nagpasalamat siya sa iyahang mama. Ug kay paborito man ni Lina ang
mansanas gidungagan kini sa iyahang papa og duha(2) pa kabook. Ug
nagpasalamat siya sa iyahang papa.
 The teacher read the story.

Did you like the story children? Okay, let us answer the questions.

Children do you have your favorite food? Did you like also an apple,
like Lina? An apple is very nutritious fruit it is good for the prevention
of any disease. So, it is good to eat an apple.

 Values Infusion:
Children is your parent loves you? Did they buy your favorite food?
Then what did you say to them? Okay, if you received something
whether it is from your parent or from other people you must have to
express your gratitude by saying “Thank you”.

Okay, in the story children, how many apples did Lina received in all?
 Teacher will (Show the solution of adding or combining 2 sets of
objects)

 Explain the process in adding or combining of two sets of pictures


or objects is called addition. And the symbol use in addition is +
(PLUS).
 Tell the pupils that the answer in addition is called sum
 Teacher will show another set of pictures to elaborate well on how
to add objects or combine 2 sets of objects.

D. Modelling

(Modelled on how to count and add 2 sets of real objects to get the
sum. Call a pupil to count and combine the 2 sets of objects
inside the two baskets.)

E. Guided Practice
Enrichment Activity (Provided with differentiated activity by row)
- Arrange the pupils by row.
- Give standards to be followed in doing the task.
- Present the rubrics in order for the pupils to be aware on how they will be
rated by row.

Direction: Count each set of animals together and write the sum.
