III- PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previews lesson or presenting the new lesson using flashcard
60 53 82 42 81
+9 +6 +3 +3 +5

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

Ask the pupils to get things from their bags and let them tell its number sentence.
Example: 3 booklets and 8 colors
23 + 8 = 31

C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson

Let the pupils count how many pupils have colors, umbrellas, scissors, cap, paste,
etc.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

Use the objects as counters in adding 2-digit and 1-digit numbers with
regrouping.

Example: 23 crayons and 9 pencils (plural form of verb)

23 20 + 3
+ 9 9

20 + 11 = 31
20 + (10 + 1)= 31

Do the same steps in other objects.

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing skills #2

Group Activities

Using scratch bond paper, teacher will give example of number sentence in each group
and let the pupils solve it in their own easier way. Let them explain how they got the
answer.

1. 38 + 6 = 4. 58 + 6 =
2. 45 + 9 = 5. 79 + 5 =
3. 65 + 8 =

F. Developing Mastery
Games
Pass the ball while playing the music. When the music stops, the pupil holding
the ball will go to the board and answer one addition sentence. Continue until
most of the pupils had participated.

Sample addition sentence:

a. 45 + 6 = d. 33 + 9 =
b. 35 + 8 = e. 35 + 9 =
c. 21 + 9 = f. 42 + 9 =
G. Making generalization and abstractions about the lesson

Ask: How do we add 2-digit and 1-digit numbers mentally? (To add 2-digit and 1-
