Find the product of 5x4 = 20


Solution : Find the number in the 5th row that is parallel to
the 4th column. The meeting between rows and columns is
the result of their multiplication. The circled number is the
product of 5x4. Therefore, 5x4 = 20
2. Determine multiplication with a predetermined result
PROCEDURAL 1. There are 3 bags of marbles. Each bag contains 10 marbles.
The total number of marbles can be determined in the
following way :
There are 3 times the addition of the number 10
Therefore, the total number of marbles is
10 + 10 + 10 = 3 x 10 = 30
2. Compare the following two sets of balls.
Are the numbers the same ?

From the picture it can be seen that the two sets of balls are
equal in number. Therefore, 2 x 5 = 5 x 2 = 10
3. Multiplication with numbers 0, 1, and 2
- A number when multiplied by 0, the result 0
Example : 4 x 0 = 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 0
0x4=4x0=0
- A number when multiplied by 1, the result is the number itself
Example : 1 x 8 = 8
9x1=1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1=9
- A number when multiplied by 2, the result can be
determined by adding the number 2 times.
Example : 2 x 4 = 4 + 4 = 8
2 x 7 = 7 + 7 = 14
4. Find the product of 5x6 = 30
5. Find the product of 7x9 = 63
