Overview

• Brother-designed printer engines use unique positively charged non-magnetic toner

technology. This presents both unique opportunities and challenges.

• Printers have a high consumable replacement rate, as toner cartridges and OPC drum units
are sold separately offering excellent profit opportunities.

• Toner cartridges are not chipped but many have a flag gear (or “reset” gear) which must be
reset to the proper position during remanufacturing for correct printer operation.

• Toner supplies include standard, high yield and extra high yield cartridges. Most of the
cartridges are nearly identical allowing remanufacturing of low yield cartridges to more
profitable high yield offerings.

• Some toner cartridges have keying variations that exist from region to region. Our
remanufacturing instructions explain this in further detail where applicable.

to ensure both our dedicated and universal toners are compatible with our OPC drums as
well as OEM OPC drums.

our OPC drums as well as OEM OPC drums. It delivers solid print performance without the flaws commonly seen

Remanufacturing Tips
Toner Cartridge:
Brother toner cartridges generally recirculate waste toner back into the toner hopper by design;
therefore, proper cleaning of the cartridge is critical when remanufacturing Brother cartridges.
Failure to clean properly will result in print defects, particularly backgrounding and/or ghosting.

• Clean the Toner Hopper

• Clean the Toner Adder Roller
• Fluff Developer Roller End Felts Before Installation of the Developer Roller
• Remove End Plates That Hold The Developer Roller
• Reset Flag Gear If Applicable

Drum Unit:
Unlike traditional all-in-one laser cartridges, Brother drum units do not utilize the traditional wiper
