Topic introduction

People always say that the school is a miniature society to itself. Each classroom is a
community in which each member represents a wide cross-section of the society at large,
with different social backgrounds, colors and religions. What is more, students are
undoubtedly pillars of the countries in the foreseeable time. Therefore, in order to make
the world a better place, the school environment must be innovated. Honestly speaking,
by observing the present status of the regional educational system, we would say that the
mental health of Vietnamese students has been negatively affected by a wide range of
problems, ranging from learning stress to school bully. And that is the main topic of our
presentation - students' mental health.

2. The situation

Nowadays, as we have mentioned before, there are more and more students facing
mental problems. In terms of school violence, according to latest reports from the
Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, there are more than 1600 reported
bullying cases in a typical academic year, which means the frequency of 5 cases per day.
And by those 1600 cases per year, more than 50% of Vietnamese students are involved.
On the other hand, learning stress is also a massive factor causing mental illness for
students, which are calculated to have led to the death of more than 3000 teenagers all
over the world per year.

- Phần 2: khi vào clip có thể chèn giúp mình số liệu: + 1600 cases relating to school
violence per year. ~ 5 cases per day.

+ 3000 teenagers suicides due to their study pressure each year.

3. Consequences of the students’ suffering from mental health

Mental health problems can affect a student's energy level, concentration, mental ability,
and optimism, which may result in poor performance. Furthermore, it can also lead to the
grossly immoral behaviours such as: drugs abuse, suicide, murder, thieves and so on.
Peers, family members, and ordinary citizens may be personally affected out of concern
for these students.

Depression and anxiety can have negative impacts on relationships and work
productivity.
Suicide and suicidal thoughts can affect the larger campus community.
Roommates, peers, faculty, and staff also experience profound grief over student suicides
and suicidal behavior.
Schools feel the burden when students with mental health difficulties perform poorly on
course work and decrease overall performance.
Colleges and universities have to spend time addressing psychological impacts of
suicides on other students, as well as on teachers and staff.
The community is negatively affected when students are unable to finish their degrees
and contribute valuable skills in an increasingly competitive job market.
