PART I. INTERPRET AND SOLVE
Problem:
A tourism student with average height is longing for work as a flight attendant in
international airport aboard.
Interpretation:
Based on the situation there’s a tourism student has an average height longing
for a work as a flight attendant in international airport abroad but he need first to be
graduated in college and has a school diploma before he/she longing for a work and I
guess he/she won't be accepted the airport agency because he/she not graduated at
college
Solution:
First step in becoming a flight attendant is applying for a position with an airline. You'll
need to meet the airline's requirements for education and experience. You need to
complain all of the requirements. Flight attendant gives you a great opportunity to climb
a career ladder. Starting from a regular cabin crew member you could gain a Senior
Cabin Crew qualification as well as to become an Instructor for Cabin Crew training
afterwards. You could also change the airline from a small and less popular and move
to a large and widely known. The lifestyle of flight attendant destines you to always
meet new interesting and different people. In a result, you will make many friends all
around the world, some of them for life.
PART II. RESEARCH
Filipinos are known for tremendous hospitality, generosity, and different cultures
yet some cultural that are not in the good side. One of those cultural values is the
“Ningas cogon”. Ningas cogon from the Filipino word ningas meaning flare or burning
and Imperata cylindrica (also known as cogon grass or kunai grass) is a species of
perennial rhizomatous grass native to tropical and subtropical Asia, Micronesia,
Melanesia, Australia, Africa, and southern Europe. It is a highly flammable fire-adapted
species, and can spread rapidly by colonizing disturbed areas and encouraging more
frequent wildfires. The species is most commonly known in English as "cogon grass",
from Spanish cogón, from the Tagalog and Visayan kugon. The two words put together
is “flaming cogon grass”
Being “Ningas-Cogon” impedes our path in reaching our full potential. One of the
things this toxic trait affects is our progress. By exhibiting this kind of attitude, we cannot
ever establish the trust of important people, the people that play important roles in our
rise and fall our immediate supervisors at work, our teachers at school, our parents. In a
way, by being only driven for a short period of time when working on something, we are
also failing and betraying ourselves. Doing your best is always a requirement for
anything you do. Particularly on a job or any project and activities in school.
It is essential that you are at your best, and you can achieve that for a day. It’s
being consistent that is the challenge; being at your best on a daily basis. And to be at
your best, your mindset must follow as well. Performing in full capacity and maintaining
it are two different beasts. One thing is for sure, we need both. We need both to help
ourselves eliminate the “Ningas-cogon” that’s killing our success and keep that flame
burning.
In a study done by Bert Drona (2014), Ningas Cogon is said to be the result of a
lack of understanding of the root causes of the problems that arise during projects
leading to a lack of understanding in how to fix it, and, eventually, leading to leaving the
incomplete project as it is in order to avoid said problems. The problem may also be
rooted in the dependency of the Filipinos to others, such as in history when the
Americans had to liberate us from Spain after they had fought and even Japan
afterwards.
