issues in SCM, supply chain objectives, importance of supply chain decisions, decision phases in
supply chain, process view of supply chain, supply chain cycles
Unit II
Flows in supply chain : flow of product across supply chain, information flow, financial flow and its
significance
Unit III
Types of supply chain : made to stock strategy, build-to-order process, assemble-to-order model,
engineer-to-do and its significance
Unit IV
Decisions of supply chain : competitive supply chain strategy, achieving strategic fit, expanding
strategic scope, challenges in achieving and maintaining fit, make or buy decision, offshoring decision,
strategic alliance framework, retailer supplier partnership, push v/s pull system, supply chain strategy
Unit V
Supply chain drivers and metrics : performance drivers, framework for structuring drivers,
facilities, inventory, transportation, information, sourcing, pricing, factors affecting distribution
network design, design options for distribution network, online sales and the distribution network,
distribution network in practice
Unit VI
Designing global supply chain (GSC)
networks : globalization impact on SC network, risk management in GSC, evaluating network design
decision, evaluating GSC, chain design decisions under uncertainty, making GSC design decisions
under uncertainty in practice, bullwhip effect, beer game
