#NARRATOR: “One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the
world.”
Good afternoon to our amazing teachers out there. Across the country
every year on September 5, Teachers’ Day is celebrated. The day is
dedicated to teachers and acknowledges their contribution in shaping one’s
life; something that Dr. S Radhakrishnan always wanted to do . So, We are
presenting a short play on teachers' lives during various phases of the
pandemic. This play shows how teachers can impact generations of
students with their knowledge. Without further ado, let's begin!
Scene 1: Characters: Abhivrita , Dikchhya, Students

Abhivrita (Himani) : Students this is how you write a function for the
required program.

(Informer enters the class).

Dikchhya( Informer): Good morning everyone ! This is an important notice
for all. As the cases for covid-19 are rising , the school has decided to close
its premises from tomorrow.
(Students are standing and shouting , being happy.)
#song : abhi toh party shuru hui hai
Dikchhya ( informer): also the classes will be conducted online as we
don't know how long it will take to open the school again.
(students in shock).

Narrator Voiceover: The students are now attending the offline class.
The pandemic is almost over and school is now functioning normally!

Scene 2: Teachers in the staffroom

Aaditya(male teacher 2): After so many days we all are able to sit
together and discuss .
Anshu(Rachna): Exactly! We could not really connect with each other . I
hope the online phase does not come back again.
Pretty(Asha): Well said rachna! So, how have things been so far?
Diwash (Male Teacher 1) : It was very different from what we used to do
before? I never thought I could teach using a laptop , but it has created a
new perspective for me.
Aaditya(male teacher 2): At Least we now know that a classroom can be
created while everyone is so far from each other.
Abhivrita(himani): Well the knowledge about computers was of utmost
importance during these times!
Pretty(Asha): So any moments or incidents you would love to share?
Sirisha (kusha): I have one moment and I am sure everyone can relate to
it!!
Diwash (male teacher 1): what is it? t
Sirisha (kusha): it is the time when students sit only in half uniform and
don’t wear school pants and wear pajamas instead!!(laughing)
Abhivrita(himani): True kusha! We all have seen a few of them!

(everyone is laughing and remembering that moment)

TRANSITION:
Scene 3: =FROM HOME Characters: Sirisha , Ekansh
(galti se mistake playing in background)

Sirisha(Kusha): So students, your homework will be uploaded in the

gc
Students voice: okay ma’am
Ekansh (student): (stands up to take this copy when sirisha catches
her wearing half school dress and background song )
(Sirisha giving angry look where ekansh giving sorry look )

Scene 4: Back to staffroom Characters : teachers

Sirisha(kusha): That was a fun yet weird moment indeed for all of us!
Aaditya: It surely is ! but don't you remember , students used to do such
things before offline classes too.
Pretty(asha): For example:.....

TRANSITION TO CLASSES

Scene 5: Classroom and students Characters: preety, chirag, students

(PREETY ENTERS)
STUDENTS: Good morning ma'am!
Preety( asha): Good morning students ! please sit down. I hope you guys
have completed your homework? Those who have completed please raise
your hands.

(few students raise their hands)

Preety(asha): Seems like only a few students have done their homework.
It's ok i won't check it today but it should be completed by tomorrow.

( turns towards the board to write something)

(sees student(chirag) eating, ignores)

Preety(asha): Ok this much for class today, I hope you finish your
homework . And yes, you come with me.

(comes out of class with that kid)

Preety(asha): So, what is on the menu today?

Student: Ma’am?
Preety(asha):The lunch which you were eating in my class.
Student:No ma'am! Sorry ma'am!
(she pulls his ears.)
Student:Sorry ma'am!
Preety (asha):Don't repeat this from the next class.
Student:Ok ma'am!
(Walks away and tells)
Preety (asha):And yes, start eating something healthy.

Scene 6: Back to the staffroom; character: teachers

Diwash (Male Teacher 1) : Those were also some good moments.

Everything has its own fun and keeping fun aside they do study at least.
Preety (asha):Yes that is true!
Abhivrita(himani):I still remember the times when students and parents
used to call me for technical issues.
Aaditya:Yes, sometimes we did have a problem and you helped us very
much.

Scene 7: teachers helping for technical stuff

Abhibrita(Himani): ohh finally the classes are over and now it's time to get
some rest .(she sits on a chair and start using her phone as soon as she
sits..phone rings)
Abhibrita(Himani):Hello, who is this?
Parent: Hello good afternoon sir..this is Rakesh's mother calling. He
studies in grade 11 D. Rakesh's account is blocked and he is not able to
attend his classes . Could you please help so that he can attend his
classes?
Abhibrita(himani): Yes ma'am, umm.. Ma’am the account is blocked as
rakesh's fee is due and to unblock the account please pay the fee as soon
as possible .thank you.
Abhibrita(himani): (as soon as she cuts the call … there is another call)
Hello ..yes !
Teacher: hello himani ma’am! Ma'am I am not audible to the students.
Abhibrita(himani):Okay!Can you unmute and speak in the meeting or
rejoin?
Teacher:Ohh sure! Yes it works now. Thankyou
Abhibrita(himani):Your welcome! (call cuts) it feels so good helping
everyone and expanding my horizons everywhere!

Scene 8: Back to staffroom Characters: Teachers

Abhivrita(himani): Apart from the jokes and funny incidents, do you recall
the time when rachna taught her students a lesson?
Anshu(rachna): It is just a part of my job . It is not a big deal.
Diwash(Male teacher 1): but you also know teachers affect eternity, they
can influence generations of students with their knowledge.
2-3 teachers: yes,we totally agree upon this!!
(rachna is thinking)

Narrator: wow! Rachna taught her students a lesson !

But how ? Do you want to know? Ok so, it was the time of the pandemic
where online classes were the only option to study and it was their first time
and as we know first time always gives rise to problem and chaos.

Scene 9: home and first online class Characters : anshu, roshana

Anshu(Rachna): Good morning students! I know it is the first time for us to

conduct online classes but don't worry we will sort it out together and trust
me it is going to be fun.
Roshana: Good morning ma'am ! Yes, we surely are going to get through
this and also have some fun.

VOICEOVER: rachna finds that some of the students’ cameras and

mic are off and she feels disappointed.

Anshu(Rachna): I only see roshana. Can everyone turn their cameras on?

VOICEOVER: Unfortunately ,no one turns their cameras on!

Anshu(Rachna): Am I audible?
Roshana: Yes ma'am, you are audible!
Anshu(Rachna):It seems like everyone is camera shy and I hope you guys
deal with it soon. So, without any delay let's start our lesson!
VOICEOVER:The lesson starts. Rachna is teaching her students and
then she asks a question.

Anshu(Rachna): Raj, tell me what is vegetation?

VOICEOVER:The kid does not respond.
Anshu(Rachna): Ok, I guess u didnt understand the topic. I will explain
again. So, vegetation is…

SOMEONE PLAYS MUSIC IN THE CLASS.

Anshu(Rachna): Can you stop this and focus on your lesson? Turn off
your mic.

IT STILL DOESN'T STOP!

Anshu(Rachna): Ok, the time is almost over, let's do this much for today.
Thank you class!
Roshana: Thank you ma’am.

Scene10: mother , daughter scene characters: anshu, agrata

(Rachna looks stressed and tensed )

(daughter walks in)

Agrata(nimi): Are you okay maa?You look tense.

Anshu(rachna): Yes nimi ! Today i took the classes and none turned their
cameras on, none gave the answers to the question and a kid was playing
music during the class.
Agrata(nimi): Seriously maa! They did these things?
Anshu(rachna): Yes of course!
Agrata(nimi): Mom, someone once said :teachers affect eternity ,they can
influence generations of students with their knowledge ! And I know you will
figure this out!
Anshu(Rachna):I know ,but how ?
Agrata (nimi): Teach them in their own ways!
Anshu (rachna):Thank You so much for that motivation nimi. I will surely
do my best.
Agrata(nimi):That’s the spirit, Maa!You can do it!
NARRATOR:She accepts her daughter’s advice and gets prepared to
overcome this situation .

Scene 11 : Music Character: anshu

Anshu (rachna):Goodmorning, today we are going to start with an

animation video to learn things better .
NARRATOR: Rachna starts to teach them in different ways and
encourages them to be better at studies again. She is not giving her best.

NARRATOR: She taught them in the best way possible. And today is the
first day after online class. Let’s see her hard work pays off.

Scene 11: 1st offline class Characters: Anshu, Subhangi, students

Anshu(rachna):Good morning Students! Today is the first day of school
after online classes and I hope we give our best this time too.
Students: Yes ma’am OK ma’am!

(SUBHANGI(AADHYA MAAM) ENTERS THE CLASS)

Students:Good morning ma’am

Subhangi(aadhya): Good morning students! Today I’ll be asking you some
questions regarding the syllabus so that I can know what you have
understood till now.
(ANSHU VOICEOVER:OH MY GOD! WHAT IF MY STUDENTS ARE NOT
ABLE TO ANSWER? WILL MY EFFORTS GO IN VAIN?)

Subhangi(aadhya):Okay the first question is: What is the total number of

states and union territories in India?
Student 1: 28 states and 8 union territories! ma’am!
Subhangi(aadhya): Very good! Now what is flora and fauna?
Student 2: Flora is all the plant life and fauna is all the animal life present
in a particular region or time.

(VOICEOVER:STUDENTS ARE ANSWERING QUESTIONS AND THAT

TOO CORRECTLY TO THE HOD . WHAT WAS HER REACTION LETS
SEE.)

Subhangi(aadhya): Now, it's the last question. So, tell me what is

vegetation?
Student 3: Vegetation is the plant life of a region or plant community in a
particular area.
Subhangi( aadhya): Well done students! You all gave a positive response
and did exceptionally well. Good job, I shall leave now.
Students: Thankyou Ma’am!

(SUBHANGI LEAVES)

Student 1: Thankyou ma’am! Without you we could not have understood

this. You have made a big impact on us.
Anshu (rachna): It is not a problem. Thank you class.

(ANSHU LEAVES)

FINAL SCENE: VOICEOVER ANSHU WALKING IN THE CORRIDOR

WITH A SMILE.
VOICEOVER OF ANSHU:WOW, THAT WAS AMAZING YET SHOCKING
FOR ME . THEY ANSWERED TO THE QUESTIONS. THIS IS THE MOST
BEAUTIFUL MOMENT OF MY LIFE.
