This is a collaborative speaking task based on a Christmas theme.

Instructions

1 Divide the class into groups. Groups A and groups B.

2 Give group A the words in option 1; group B the words in option 2.

3 Check that the students understand all the words. Ask them for
definitions, example sentences or translations.

4 Tell students that they have 20 minutes to make up a story which

includes all the Christmas words that they have been given.

5 Remind students before they begin about structuring the story with a
beginning, middle and end; choice of main characters etc.

Planning story

1 How many characters will the story have?

2 What are the names of the characters?

3 What is the main plot of the story?

4 How will the story begin, and end?

5 In which parts of the story will you use the key Christmas words?
