Remember: When adding or subtracting:

1) If the signs are the same, we add and keep the sign.

Examples: (a) −3−4=−7

(b) −5−10=−15
(c) 7+5=12

2) If the signs are different, we subtract and keep the sign of the bigger number.

Examples: (a) −12+8=−4

(b) 3−10=−7
(c) −1+4=3

When multiplying or dividing:

1) If the signs are the same, the answer will be positive (+¿ )

Examples: (a) −2 ×−3=6

(b) 3 × 4=12
(c) −12/−3=4
(d) −6 /−2=3

2) If the signs are different, the answer will be negative (−¿)

Examples: (a) −5 ×3=−15

(b) −7 ×2=−14
(c) −21/7=−3
(d) 24 /−6=−4
