MATHEMATICS 7
QUARTER 1 : Module 3 and 4
b. (-20) + (-15 ) = - 35 -20 and -15 puro negative, so copy the sign
If the integers have different signs, get the difference of the positive equivalents of the integers and attach the
sign of the larger number to the result. DILI Pareha ug sign
Example :
a. (38) + (-20) = 18
Get the difference between 38 and 20 = 18
Since 38 is greater than 20, the sign of the sum is positive . (Kopyahon ang sign sa dako ug value nga number )
b. (-42) + 16 = -26
Get the difference between 42 and 16 = 26
Since 42 is greater than16, the sign of the sum is negative . (Kopyahon ang sign sa dako ug value nga number )
c. (-43 ) + 20 = -23
Get the difference between 43 and 20 = -23
Since 43 is greater than 20, the sign of the sum is negative . (Kopyahon ang sign sa dako ug value nga number )
If the integers have the same sign, their PRODUCT / QUOTIENT is positive.
If the integers have different signs, their PRODUCT /QUOTIENT is negative.
Example :
a. (6) x (-2 ) = -12 ( 6 multiplied by 2 is 12,dili pareha ug sign, the product is negative 12)
b. (-5) x (-3) = 15 ( 5 multiplied by 3 is 15,pareha ug sign, parehong negative, the product is positive 15)
c. 10 x (-3) = - 30 ( 10 multiplied by 3 is 30, (positive 10 ang usa negative 3) dili pareha ug sign, the product
is negative 30)
d. -90 ÷ 10 = -9 ( 90 divided by 10 is 9,dili pareha ug sign, the quotientt is negative 9)
e. -40 ÷ (-8) = 5 ( 40 divided by 8 is 5,pareha ug sign, parehong negative, the quotient is positive 5)
f. (3) × (−4) × (−2)= 24
3 multiplied by -4 = -12 (dili pareha ug sign , negative 12)
-12 multiplied by -2 = 24 (positive ky pareha na ug sign)
