Union and Intersection of Sets
The UNION of two or more sets is the set that
contains all elements of the sets. The symbol for
union is U. To find the union of two sets, list the
elements that are in either set, or in both sets. In
the Venn diagram below,

The INTERSECTION of sets is the set of
elements that are common to two or more
sets. The symbol for intersection is f. When
you find the intersection of two sets, list only
the elements that are in both sets. The
shaded area below shows
