History of NSS
• National service scheme is a voluntary organisation
launched in Gandhiji birth sentenary year 1969. The
program aims to promote personality development. By
means of participation in community service starting
from a hand full of 37 Universities, it has got more than
3.2 million student volunteers from all over the country.
• The national service scheme was launched in 1969.it
aims at the involvement mainly of undergraduate
students on a voluntary basis in various activities of
social service and national development which while
making a contribution to socio – economic progress
would also provide opportunities to the students to
understand and a appreciate the problems of the
communities, Awaken social consciousness and inculcate
in them a sense of dignity of labour.

NSS Days:
1) NSS was formally launched
on 24th September 1969, the
birth centenary year of the
farther of the nation
