Origin and Structure of the Earth

4. b 9. c
5. a 10. a

LESSON 2.1 UNIVERSE AND SOLAR SYSTEM

II. Learning Activities (Activating Prior Knowledge)

1. outer space 3. celestial bodies 5. planets 7. time

2. galaxies 4. cosmos 6. stars 8. big bang theory

III. Learning Probe (Analysis)

1. From the words listed above, pick at least one and explain

BIG BANG THEORY— this theory states how It is believed that the universe began in a Big Bang that
happened billion years ago. At that time, the entire universe was inside a bubble that was thousands
of times smaller, an infinitely hot and infinitely dense singularity than anything we can imagine. It was
then suspected to have suddenly exploded hence the universe that we’ve come to know was born.

2. Do you know that the universe is made up of billions of different kinds of celestial bodies?
— Yes, I was able to encounter this topic on my previous grade levels although we never really
got into an in-depth discussion for it. So basically, it was brought up and briefly explained to an extent.

LESSON 2.2: EARTH AND EARTH SYSTEMS

IV. Learning Activities (Activating Prior Knowledge)

1. Atmosphere 2. Biosphere 3. Lithosphere

V. Learning Probe (Analysis)

1. In which sphere do humans live?
— the biosphere
2. How does each sphere interact with each other?

— well generally speaking all the spheres interact with other spheres. For instance, water collects
from clouds in the atmosphere which falls down to the lithosphere in the form of rain or snow. Forming
streams, rivers, lakes and oceans, that provide drinking water for animals, humans, microorganisms and
for plants growth alike (biosphere). That is to say, this example only gives out the main idea. The spheres
interactions with one another can be observed in more ways than one.
VI. Learning Tasks (Application)

SPHERES INTERACTIONS
• Atmosphere (A) from what I can see in the photo there is a hurricane occurring.
• Geosphere (G) Hurricanes mostly interact with the atmosphere (A) and the
• Hydrosphere (H) hydrosphere (B) due to their low air pressures and circulation over
• Biosphere (B) the oceans. Once making landfall, it can drastically change the
geosphere (G) and affect the biosphere (B) of the said area.

SPHERES INTERACTIONS
• Atmosphere (A) This seems to be a landslide. This can be caused by heavy rains which
• Geosphere (G) are formed from clouds in the atmosphere (A), earthquakes, or
• Hydrosphere (H) volcanic eruptions. As seen, this has caused major damages in the
• Biosphere (B) Earth’s land (G) and plants, animals or even humans (B)
SPHERES INTERACTIONS
• Geosphere (G) A forest fire, the trees that have grown on Earth (G) has caught fire,
• Hydrosphere (H) it can then be observed that a human or fire fighter (B) is using water
• Biosphere (B) (H) to alleviate and fully stop the fire, This scenario can be said to have
also affected plants and animals alike (B)

VII. Learning Check (Assessment)

• Identify the spheres;

— Biosphere, Hydrosphere, Atmosphere and Geosphere
• Five Interactions;
1. The farmers planting and taking care of the rice crops 4. Rice crops using the water for growth
2. Rice crops growing on land 5. Humans or farmers plowing the fields
3. collected water through rain
VIII. Module Post-test
1. a 6. c
2. b 7. c
3. d 8. b
4. b 9. c
5. a 10. a
