AC side of Inverter

All Hardware AL or SS and Penetrox

1) Loosely install bottom AC plate before Inverter is set


a) Strut and ready rod bracket positioned but plate still moves
2) Install TA and Aluminum lockring into top AC plate
3) Secure AC top plate with Stainless Steel Teck Screws (3/8 Hex Head)
4) Install PVC Sleeves from Bottom AC plate, keeping them straight
5) Position bottom AC plate with a focus on keeping PVC sleeves straight up
a) Includes straight up from side view
b) Cut Aluminum plate strips to cover any voids larger than 1/2”
i) Install via Teck screws (Galvanized) and sheet metal from inside vault
drilling up through existing AC plate and AC strip
6) If not already installed, install strut and ready rod bracket, securing bottom AC
plate
7) Start AC terminations
a) Point to Point cables to ensure correct Phasing
b) Place cardboard inside enclosure to keep clean
c) Push all extra cable into vault if possible
d) Install Fault indicator and Surge Arresters
e) AC Deadbreak boots torque 55 ft lbs with 1” socket
8) Concentric Neutrals require separate ground whips to ground bar
a) C tap 2/0 whip to concentric
9) Install all grounds to ground bar with Aluminum mechanical lug
a) Mechanical lug uses 1 1/2” stainless bolt and hardware
i) Torque per 3/8” bolt spec
10) Stainless strut is mounted across existing slotted brackets
a) 1 above and 1 below existing slotted brackets
b) Install with 1 1/2” stainless hardware
11) Mount AC cables to strut with black Cleats
a) Cleats mount with 4 1/4" stainless bolt
b) 2 different sizes of Cleat
i) Large for 750 +
ii) Small for 350 – 500
12) Clean cables and boots of Penetrox/dirt/firecaulk/duck tape
a) Install cable tags
b) Firecaulk Sleeves
i) Push paper towel 2-3 inches into sleeve to stop firecaulk from expanding
downwards
ii) Cables cannot touch sleeve
iii) Cables cannot touch ground wires
iv) Caulking must look clean
v) Caulking must not overflow and spill onto lockring or plate

Material
1) 4x 12” ready rod and 2x24” galvanized strut
a) Usually 1/2” ready rod but 3/8 will work
b) 8 lockwashers/ 8 flat washers/ 8 nuts
2) 6 Aluminum 4” lockrings
3) PVC Glue and Primer
4) 3/4" wrench for 1/2” nuts
5) Drill with 3/8 hex bit for Teck screws
6) Multimeter for Point to Point and Phasing
7) Bandsaw/Sawzall
8) AC stripping tools
9) TE Deadbreak Boots
10) Fault Indicators and Surge Arresters (3 Each)
11) Torque Wrench with 1”, 9/16 “ sockets
12) Cu/Cu Penetrox and AL/Cu Penetrox
13) 6x 2/0 to 2/0 C taps with INDEX “O” Dye and Hypress
14) 4x AL mechanical lugs
a) 4x 1 ½” SS bolts/locks/nuts
b) 8 flat washers
15) Stainless strut at
a) 2x 1 ½” SS bolts/locks/nuts
b) 4 flat washers
16) 6x Cable Cleats
a) Different sizes based on cables
b) 12x 4 ¼” SS bolts/nuts
c) 24 flat washers
17) Extra cables cleaning kits and rags
