Oracle 11G Client and MC Installation Manual (ENG)
WARNING!!! In case client’s PC already has Oracle client (11G or higher) – Oracle 11G installation is not
required.
In this case you just need to add text fragment in tnsnames.ora file on client’s pc:

, where MCSERVER – either the name of Materials Control server, or it’s IP-address.
Afetr that you should check connection with server using the following command in cmd:
tnsping oracle
Press Next
Press Install.
Press close
Installation of Oracle has finished. Proceed to Materials Control installation.
In the Oracle installation directory .. \ product \ 11.2.0 \ client_1 \ network \ admin \ create a blank
text file tnsnames.ora with the following contents:
ORACLE =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = IP) (PORT = 1521)
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = oracle)
)

For proper work of Materials Control version 13.40 and higher you need
.Net Framework 1.1 and 2.0 with the latest updates to be installed on your machine.
Press Run
Press Next.
Press Next.
Check that Oracle and SQLNet Connection name is set oracle. Press Next.
(In case client PC has already Micros 9700 applications installed, you should untick Crystal Report
Driver box. This will make Custom reports from MC application unavailable. Contact MC support team
for help).
Press Install.
Press Next.
Press Next.
Press Finish.
Press Finish.
1. For local/domain users you should add Read&Write + Modify rights for folders: C:\Program
Files\Materials Control and C:\oracle\product\10.2.0. Otherwise the user (if he is not in
Administrator’s group) will not be able to use MC.
2. If you use Windows 7 - for local users in case of some specific restrictions in domain security policy
you should also give privilege to create global objects (you may delegate this privilege directly to
Group of users):
3. To make export from MC to Excel available you should add “C:\Program Files\Business
Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86” to environment SYSTEM variables “Path”.
