Reflect on how to improve the weaknesses of the Filipino values/characteristics as a

means of improving the Filipino character and for nation building (One page only)

Every country or nationality has its own values, traits, attitude, beliefs and
characteristics. We Filipinos has its own values that’s its own. We believe that our country has
the best values system. However, I still believe that our values are not perfect, there are
negative and positive we Filipinos have. Its values have its own strength and weaknesses that
can affects us as Filipino the way we behave, think and act.
There are many strength or positive values that we have. Being faithful, hospitable,
righteousness, family oriented, resilient, hardworking and many more. These values that we
possess have positive impact to our lives. Many foreign people love the values that we have.
However, there are also negative and weaknesses in Filipino values. Being crab mentality is of
the negative values that some Filipinos have. Having a crab mentality mind si that keeping
others from getting what they want and not wanting others to be successful. For example, it is
common to our family that some of our relatives are bugging talking about our dreams and
achievements. Instead of encouraging us they tend to pull us down in life. This attitude is one of
the bad habits that Filipino have. It was sad to say that is some people have this kind of habit or
values that can affect other people. We should not tolerate this kind of values because we
cannot improve ourselves and to our country. We should motivate others instead of dragging
them. Another example of negative values that Filipino have is lack of initiative and discipline.
These are the common weakness of values that we have. For instance, some people are
leaving their food or mess on the table after eating in fast food chain. But I you have initiative,
you yourself would fixing it to lessen the work of crews to clean the table. It is sad to think that
some people are not thinking the hard work of some crew. We should clean as you go in every
place you will eat or go. Another thing is lack of discipline, in times of pandemic we are advice to
always wear face mask and face shield, practice social distancing, and not going out if not
needed. Having lack of discipline, many Filipinos violates this health protocols. Some are not
wearing face mask, some are going out because they want to not knowing that there is a rule
not to go out if it’s not needed. Because of lack of discipline of some Filipinos, the number of
cases in different places increases. This value should practice everywhere to our betterment.
We Filipinos firmly believe that our country has the best values but not knowing that we
have some worse values that some Filipino have. These negative values of Filipino should not
tolerate and should improve and correct in order for us to succeed not only by ourselves but
also for the nation building. We should practice positive values to be a good person and citizen
of our country. Good values should always practice, improve and posses for us to be have a
good relationship with other, to be united and help the country for its betterment.
