    Heart failure results from the impaired pumping function of the heart. This causes decreased arterial pressure and increased venous pressure as blood pools in the veins due to inadequate pumping. The heart compensates by increasing cardiac muscle fiber dilation, heart rate, and cardiac filling to boost cardiac output, but this increased workload leads to reduced coronary artery filling and myocardial oxygen supply, resulting in myocardial fatigue and eventual heart failure.
