RENOIR
M.S. Rau Antiques has the privilege to
offer four masterpieces by the world’s
most revered Impressionists.
Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Paysage, arbres et lande au fond exhibits the vivid color and fluid
brushstroke that characterize Renoir’s revolutionary work. A classic
example of Renoir’s renowned aesthetic, this exciting landscape
is a symphony of the vibrant greens, pale blues and warm yellows
that he so loved. Renoir’s landscapes are considered to be among
the most important of all of his works, and this outstanding oil is
one of his finest.

Vincent van Gogh

This magnificent painting by the master himself is classic Vincent
van Gogh. Entitled Still Life with Two Sacks and a Bottle, this oil
on canvas laid down on panel displays his unmatched talent for
using everyday items to create compositions of singular beauty.
From the thick impasto, to the black outline of the objects, to
the leaning tobacco, this exceptional work of art displays all the
hallmarks of van Gogh at his best.

Paul Gauguin
Fleurs dans un vase avec partition musicale is an outstanding still-
life displaying Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin’s remarkable eye for
composition. Thickly-layered paint and luminous colors, hallmarks
of Gauguin’s distinctive style, are used to their utmost effect in
this remarkable oil. Paintings by Gauguin hardly ever become
available for acquisition. This particular work was executed early in
the artist’s career, and is indescribably rare since he created so few
compositions during this period.

Claude Monet (see back cover for information)

Few artists have ever been able to capture the true essence
of nature quite like Monet. In this exceptional pair of panels,
entitled Jonquilles, bright hues and complex brushwork create an
awe-inspiring effect of luminosity that seems to mimic the sun’s
rays upon each delicate daffodil. Painted for Paul Durand-Ruel,
Monet’s art dealer, these oils are certainly among Monet’s finest
small works.
