Parts of a milling machine

What is a milling machine?

A milling machine is a machine tool that is used to rough, drill, cut and / or detail, be it metal, wood or any
solid material. These operations are accomplished by rotating and moving a cutting tool called a “milling
cutter” through a set of cranks, one for the vertical axis (z-axis) and another two for the horizontal axis (x, y-
axis).
¿ Parts of a milling machine?
This machine tool is a bit complicated in its construction, since it is made up of too many parts. This time
we will only talk about the most essential and basic parts of the milling machine.

Work table?
Usually a clamp is placed on the work table to hold the piece.
. Cranks
Vertical: This crank exerts a movement in the vertical axis or Z axis.
Longitudinal crank: This mechanism moves the worktable in the X axis.
Cross crank: The worktable moves in the Y axis.
Head crank: This crank, as its name indicates, serves to move the head on the vertical axis.
