Jasper Avenue Streetscape
The Jasper Avenue Streetscape Design was a right of way and land use improvement
project . The project aims to increase safety and circulation of pedestrian and vehicular
traffic as well as incorporating mixed-use buildings. Roadway improvements such as
angle parking on side streets, additional bus/bike/taxi lanes, left hand turn signals, and
marked crosswalks with contrasting paving stones provides traffic safety for vehicles
and pedestrians. A bioswale median acts as a natural water filtration system to reduce
pollutants and debris from entering the city water lines and water treatment facilities.
Planting of median and boulevard trees softens the adjacent buildings and creates a more
welcoming environment for users. Redesigned bus shelters, benches, waste receptacles,
and bike racks uplift the pedestrian pathways through the use of modern materials. The
addition of mixed-use buildings provides “extensions” of the street where people can
socialize and enjoy the buzz of the city. In the deeper extensions three plazas were
designed.
Master Plan
Parking plaza with street art installation and raised planters with benches.
During the Jasper Avenue Streetscape Design project, I learned how to create a design
from scratch. AutoCAD was used to create the base linework for the master plan which
was then exported into SketchUp to build a 3D model. iRender software was then used
to create perspective shots. The renderings were then taken into Photoshop to add
entourage, shadows and image adjustments. Attention to detail from start to finish
proved for exceptional results.

The Centennial Library1915
Renovation is a project located in Toronto, ON. Along with significant
improvements to the architecture is new landscaping which includes an atractive plaza
with seating, under a large, overhead canopy, creating a community gathering space. I was
tasked with the construction detailing of the custom bench seating areas

Avenue Road Condo
The Avenue Road Condominium project is a mixed use condo development in Toronto, ON.
The site neighbours Brookdale Park, an existing ravine and public playground. I was tasked
with creating a landscape concept and to develop ZBA and SPA documents for submission.
During this prosses key elements of focus were creating an accesible pathway to connect
avenue road to Brookdale Park, working with Environmental and Arborist Consultants to
develop a strategic planting plan and ravine buffer zone, create a P.O.P.S. that is green and
architecturally interesting. The site faces challenges with existing gading and requires a
retaining wall to achieve the pedestrian connection to the park. In addition to the ground
floor a luxury roof top amenity was designed for owners and renters of the condo.

Guelph Innovation District
Our vision for the Guelph Innovation District was to create a highly sustainable, mixed
use, pedestrian oriented development that effectively connects residents to their city.
We strove to achieve a efficient design that supports a live/work/play lifestyle and
compliments the city of Guelph. This was accomplished through providing a diverse range
of employment, residential, and recreational places such as the Outdoor Shopping mall,
high street plaza, community garden and the linear park . We also improved low density
housing by utilizing the storm ponds to their best potential. Additionally, High st . provided
a pedestrian focused environment that allows alternative street crossings and separated
bike lanes for a safer experience. Overall, the design proved to be successful through the
acknowledgment of common obstacles found in surrounding developments and providing
solutions to give an enhanced experience for residents.

Storm Water Pond
Grading Plan
The Storm Water Pond project
was a thorough investigation
into the grading of a site. City of
Edmonton slope minimum and
maximum requirements were
followed to allow for proper
growth of grass and ease of
use for site patrons. A 100
year flood event was calculated
to ensure water levels do
not reach beyond the storm
water pond boundary and into
residential lots. Pathways along
the site are smooth and allow
for connections to existing
subdivision walks. Boat ramps
provide access for maintenance
and emergency flooding. The
project improved my overall
understanding of grading and
drafting techniques.

The wooden outlook structure

the safety and longevity
of wooden structures.
Attachment details investigate
connections between post
to beam, post to concrete

abutment . With a foundation
of structural knowledge I am
able to visually represent that
information through the use of
drafting techniques.

GREEN ROOF
EXTERIOR WALL
Details
Clear details were crucial to understand
the construction process of the green
roof. Green roofs differ greatly from
ground level landscapes because there
is no subgrade base and there is a load
bearing capacity. Due to these limitations,
pedestals and specific light weight
growing mediums must be used. This is
an intensive green roof as the growing EXISTING FLOOR

I used existing green roof details from
manufacturers of green roof products and
altered them to suite my specific design
which included architectural pavers, wood 1 POST TO CONCRETE FOOTING

Art Installation
The aim of this project was to advocate for landscape architecture and its effect on mental
health. Research shows that hospital patients who were closer to windows had a quicker
recovery than those who were not . With that in mind we wondered what was outside of
those windows. We created the concept to look through a window and see ‘outside’. Four
windows each displayed an existing location in Edmonton, where a portion of the photo
was then uplifted through the use of Photoshop. By displaying landscape architecture
graphics in an interesting and unique way we were able to engage the public and provoke
thought about our city and the importance of landscape architecture on our mental health.
The opening event was a success and the installation was open to the public for 7 days.
Caption
My role in the project was project manager. My tasks included finding a location for the
event and developing conceptual ideas to represent the connection between the research
and the art installation. Additional tasks included designing and building the art installation,
communicating with partners at Enbridge, and time management . During this project I
learned the importance of working as a team and what it takes to create an art installation
for the public.
