ANALYSIS.

Do you have customs that you follow at home or in your community? If

so, list down the customs that you practice at your home.
- Yes, we have custom to follow or we still practiced at home like:
-Pagmamano to parents and elders
-Greeting like saying "maayong buntag", 'maayong udto", "maayong hapon", and
"maayong gabie" especially when you arrived from home or when you go to other
houses as a sign of respect.
-Pray before eating.

How would you describe these customs? Why did you and the people in
your community follow such?
- These customs help us to mold on how we give respect, it is a practice on how we
control our social behavior. In following our custom, we defined it on interacting our
relationship to other people, showing respect for family and it is kind of habit that we
considered as our own culture. For me these customs are just some of the most basic yet
important and must be practiced up to these days. That's why our parents always reminded
us to never forget and devalued these customs especially in this what we called new
generation wherein most of the people do forget the common values that a person should
have.

1. Cite three customs of the Tagalogs that you like and dislike. Explain why.
The customs of the Tagalogs that I like are:
-the way they do the rituals for a young girl who had her first monthly period, because for me it
shows how much they respect and value the worth of a woman even in their young age and it
made me think of wanting that ritual to happen to me.
-their dowry system, it shows how willing the guy is in pursuing the girl he loved. And in fact,
after their wedding they will be also the one who will use or benefit those dowries to start their
life as a couple.
-their festival called Pandot where they will worship their idol called Badhala, because they
didn't forget to spend time to glorify their god like what we did in the present times.

The customs of the Tagalogs that I dislike are:

- Their superstitious beliefs, it is because for me it's an evilish doings like what Juan de Plasencia
failed to realize.
-The way they treat those people who were born in an unfortunate status of life, because it
shows how unfair they are and I really hate those people who look down other people just
because they are not in the same boat of living.
- The way Maharlika's choose his children who will become free when he pregnant a slave
woman, it is because for me they are all his children at all so why he needs to choose.

2. What did Juan de Plasencia failed to realize?

-Juan de Plasencia failed to realize that those traditional culture that they have before are an
evilish doings.
3. Why is it important to look in a culture using the “insider’s perspective” or without any biases
and judgements?
-it is much important to look in a culture using insider's perspective for us to have a conclusion
that fair and just towards other cultures.
