attuning the lightsaber by using the Control, Sense, and
Alter rolls, and spending a Dark Side point (and
immediately earning it back, as well as an additional
Dark Side point) causes the lightsaber to be attuned to
that Sith just as it would be for a Jedi, and the blade now
shines with a red light.
At the same time, a crystal may be healed by a Jedi
and purified. To do so, the Jedi must have no Dark Side
points of their own. They then spend the same amount of
time as above in order to make the Control, Sense, and
Alter rolls to attune the crystal. However, at the end of
this process, they must then make an additional Alter roll
at Very Difficult (21 – 25) difficulty and spends a Force
point. They immediately get that Force Point back. Failure
on this roll means they must start the process over from
the beginning again. But success on the roll means that
they have healed the crystal, and attuned it to him- or
herself.
Usually, Khyber crystals are used in this process.
However, there are some other crystals that may be used,
such as Adegan Crystals, synthetic crystals (-1D of
damage when using these, and they cannot be attuned),
or other rare crystal types that may be discovered, at the
GM’s caveat.
