CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION

Internship program has become the bridge for those who want to enter to corporate level from
the college life, through internship I got to know the real working environment that was very
much different from my course study. The internship is an integral platform for anyone to
gain experience in an actual workplace.

During my internship, I got a chance to work in R J CORPORATION and know about how to
make innovations in design, energy efficiency, and construction management. All my
experience helped me realize parts like grouping work, work environment, peering support,
carried out in the organization. Thus, the internship duration provided me with the
opportunity to broaden my knowledge, acknowledge my strengths/weakness that would be
more helpful to shape up my career in the future. It also helps me to control and develop my
attitude and behavior in dealing with different kinds of people and situation.

1.1 Justification of internship

 To gain experience.
 To have a better understanding.
 Have the opportunity to learn and watch.
 Gain the ability to put new things into practice.
 Build confidence.
 To get a feel for different industries.
 To communicate


1.2 Aim of the study

This report gives knowledge of the difficulties that I looked in my work environment. It
likewise gives a thought regarding how I adjust with the expert climate. A short portrayal
about the work space is added to this report. It likewise sums up the results of the temporary
position time frame. A concise conversation about my works is likewise given. Finally a
comparison of my skills before and after internship is provided which will justify my
achievements.

1
1.3 Objective of the study

 Learn new software (AutoCAD)

 Make plans

1.4 Scope of the study

This report gives knowledge of the difficulties that I looked in my work environment. It
likewise gives a thought regarding how I adjust with the expert climate. A short depiction
about the workplace is added to this report. It additionally sums up the results of the entry
level position period. A short conversation about my works is additionally given. At long last
a correlation of my abilities when temporary job is given which will legitimize my
accomplishments.

2
CHAPTER 2 WEEKLY PROGRESS

2.1 List of Activities involved

 Discussion about Design process. There are typically 5 stages of architectural design
involved in a design-build of any project.
1. Pre-design (pd)
2. Schematic design (sd)
3. Design development (dd)
4. Construction drawings (cd)
5. Construction
 Study Area discussion

2.2 Week-1 Progress

 Literature study
 Study area
 Previous proposals

2.3 Week-2 Progress

 Learn AutoCAD
 Basic about Revit software
 Make Plans in AutoCAD

3
CHAPTER 3 CASE STUDY

1. PRE-DESIGN (PD)
The first objective is to get-together with a client and determines overall project vision and
goals. Irrespective of the industry being residential , healthcare, industrial, hospitality etc.,
there are some key areas to discuss the project – scope, features, purpose, and functionality.

In this phase, we carry out

 Client consultation
 Existing conditions survey and documentation
 Photographs
 Measurements
 Compile existing drawings if any
 Prepare high-level base drawings
 Statement of probable build/construction cost
 Programming space and use
 Code review

This phase ends with owner’s decision to move forward with a project.

2. SCHEMATIC DESIGN (SD)

In this phase, we do series of rough sketches/drawings that illustrate the basic concepts of the
design. Also, initial research of local compliance and regulations are completed at this time.

At the end of this phase, we deliver

 Floor plans of all levels with generic openings and plumbing fixtures
 Exterior building elevations with representative openings and finishes
 Building cross-section
 Typical wall section

And we move to the next phase with the owner’s approval.

3. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT (DD)

Design development collects the results from the schematic design phase and takes them one
step further.

4
This phase involves finalizing the design and specifying items such as materials, window and
door locations and general structural details.

At the end of this phase, we deliver

 Floor plans with a proposed basis of design openings and plumbing fixtures
 Overall dimensions
 Structural grid dimensions
 Interior wall dimensions
 Exterior elevations with a proposed basis of design openings and finishes
 Additional building sections
 Wall sections at all typical conditions
 Typical details
 Additional details to establish a basis for design products

Now we have given shape to project’s vision through drawings and written specifications.

4. CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS (CD)

By now we have a final design. We can begin preparing construction drawings/blueprints,
notes, and technical specifications necessary for bidding, construction, and permit
application. Construction contractors will use these detailed drawings and specifications to
prepare for the construction.

In this phase, we deliver

 Floor plans fully annotated

 All dimensions
 Room, wall, door, and window identification
 Section and detail indicators
 General notes and detailed notes
 Exterior elevations fully annotated
 All building sections required for construction
 Wall sections at all conditions
 Details fully annotated
 Structural plans, details, and notes
 Plumbing plans, schedules, details, and notes

5
 HVAC plans, schedules, details, and notes
 Electrical power and lighting plans, schedules, details, and notes

And we move to the final phase

5. CONSTRUCTION

Finally, the construction is underway.

During this phase, we will build as per the design intent. Also if there are any changes, we
discuss changes and options with the owner. It ensure that alterations are compatible with
owner’s vision for the project. This is the last phase and at the end of this phase, a project is
ready for the use/occupancy.

6
CHAPTER 4 OPPORTUNITIES

4.1 What roles you served?

In the beginning of internship my work is to simply try to learn how the company works.
Than i Assist and contribute to the team in making of report, power point presentation and
making of building plans.

4.2 What work you carried out?

Performing clerical duties: Creating Power Point presentations, drafting reports, designing
creative’s, and help in making plans.

4.3 What contribution you made to company?

I contribute two weeks as an intern to the company and there I make lot of new friends and
learn from them the method of the making plans in AutoCAD and Revit on the base of Civil
Engineering.

I learn how to manage with the client and the things which the clients want from us and also I
had been learnt at there.

7
CHAPTER 5 LEARNING

Improving our Practical skill

By working in such a big design company we have improved our practical skill on many sec-
tors of work in the office.

Some of the practical skills we have improved in the internship program are:

Design Process:

We practice real time design process in our every design assignment. From Information gathering
to final preparation of design documents.

Presentation skills:

Working with many projects we learned and greatly develop different types of pre-
sentation approaches.

Material:

Working with many design helps us by increasing our building material knowledge.

Software Awareness:

Mostly in the office we use the latest and updated software, Like Revit Architecture, AutoCAD,
ArchiCAD 18, Artlantis 5, Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe Illustrator CC, Adobe Indesign CC,
Adobe Light room, . As a result of this we learn much new software, and more familiar with the
one we use before.

8
Improving Communication Skill

Interpersonal skills are the life skills we use every day to communicate and interact with
other people, individually and in groups. Interpersonal skills include not only how we
communicate with others, but also our confidence, and our ability to listen and understand.
Problem solving, decision making and personal stress management are also considered
interpersonal skills. At the beginning of the Internship program we were very afraid to
approach the employees in the office; our contact was only with our supervisor and with the
General Manager. But as time goes we improve our interpersonal communication skill. From
our internship experience we can say that interpersonal communication is crucial to
efficiently finish any design projects, which involves large number of manpower in different
section of work.

In addition we have learnt how to become active listener and to be assertive to express my
idea freely.

9
CHAPTER 6 CHALLENGES FACED

 Afraid to Ask Questions

 Supervisors Forget That You're New to the Field
 Your Work Is Not Used
 A New Lifestyle
