Ethical Dilemmas of Technology

• Mention at least 2 technologies presented in the video that you find “cool” and cite a reason
why.

For me all the technologies presented in the video are cool but the two technologies that
stand out the most are the Pepper robot and the aquanaut robot. Pepper robot because it has
an ability to read basic human emotions and recognize faces; its capability to recognize
emotion is based on detection and analysis of facial expressions and voice tones. It is
designed to communicate with people--both as a personal aide and for businesses to use in
interactions with customers Pepper imparts encounters to its telepresence and acts as close
to home chief innovation official. The Pepper robot doesn't have harsh edges that are
hazardous to people. It's great that the Pepper can lift the disposition of an individual having
an unpleasant day. (Softbankrobotics). Aquanaut is an unmanned underwater vehicle that
can transform itself from a nimble submarine designed for long-distance cruising into a
half-humanoid robot capable of carrying out complex manipulation tasks. It can inspect
subsea oil and gas infrastructure, operate valves, and use tools. Both ROV and AOV details
can be satisfied by Aquanaut. In AUV mode, Aquanaut will conceal to 200 km in one
mission while leading standard AUV errands, for example, seabed planning and wide-zone
primary assessment. When in ROV MODE, Aquanaut turns the valve, utilizing a subsea
scanner, and outputs the structures. These modern subsea activities should be possible with
a couple of mouse clicks. It will definitely help jumpers in light of the fact that submerged
weight is a tremendous obstruction to jumpers since they can go two or three dozen meters
and just for a short restricted period. (Robots IEEE)

• Mention at least 2 technologies presentd in the video that you find “creepy” and cite a
reason why.

In my own opinion, Stuntronic and Handle Robots are the technologies presented in the
video that I find creepy. Stuntronic it is because of not just its physical appearance but also
the things that the robot can do such as aerial flips, twists, and poses with repeatability and
precision which I find weird and it gives me goosebumps every time it does its thing.
Handle robot for its physical appearance that looks scary and weird. The way the robot
moves like moving boxes in the warehouse, unloading trucks, build pallets, and moving
boxes throughout the facility is kind of creepy for me because I’m not used to it that the
handle robot is the one doing the common job of humans.

(2) Is there a law in our country (Philipines) that governs manufacturing of Autonomous and
Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) Products? If there is highlight the part that clearly describe the
policy. If none, create a sample policy by enumerating at least 3 rules that any
manufacturing company must follow before distributing their products to the market.

A. Privacy and surveillance

• One of the moral issues concerning artificial intelligence is privacy. Customers give
more consideration to their private data and are especially discomfited with how
information about their predilections, addresses, credit records, and more are
utilized by establishments with whom they communicate. Self-sufficient and man-
made reasoning or AI intelligence assembling organization should guarantee the
security of any close to home data of its buyers.

B. Must Identify target market or customer

• creating and launching products and services available on the market or public
accompanies a high danger. Recognizing the objective client for your image or
brand is perhaps the most basic part of the showcasing plan. It is essential to
distinguish the intended interest group prior to conveying the items to the market.

C. Distribution Channels
• Independent and computerized reasoning/AI intelligence corporations should
decide how to disperses their creation. They can sell straightforwardly to clients or
they can sell through a specialist, a distributor, or retailer who helps move products
from their source to the end-client.

(3) Measure the level of threat of hacking by selecting a level in a scale of 1 to 5 (Where 1 is
the least and 5 is the highest)

Perceived level of threat of hacking : 4
