Construction of the con-
troversial structure is well
under way, and it is causing
quite a stir amongst resi-
dents.
The main timber body of
the building is now firmly
in place, boasting a unique
modern design.
And the £2.7m build –
which aims to be completed
by October – has divided
opinion among many.
Local mum, Kate Furness
from Bispham, 27, said: “At
the moment, it’s not very
nice, but we’ll have to wait
until it’s finished.
“It’s such an unusual de-
sign, which can only mean
it will draw more people into
the resort.
“I can see the po-
tential attraction
to having a wed-
ding here.
“Hopefully it
will look better
when it’s all
completed.”
Holiday-
maker, Wilfred
Goldthorpe, from
Pontefract, said:
“It looks awful to
me. Not only that, I
can’t see the idea catch-
ing on.
“Surely the money should
have gone towards tidying up
the town some more.
“I would never have had
my wedding there.”

Reward on offer in burglary appeal
POLICE are offering a £10,000 reward for information leading
to the arrest of a man wanted over a high-value burglary, who
is believed to be in Blackpool.
James Doe, 37, was charged in March 2001 for a burglary in
Droitwich and was given court bail.
However, he failed to appear for his next court hearing and
has not been seen since.
Det Chief Insp Gary Watson, of West Mercia Police, said: “We
have been attempting to trace James Doe for many years and
as time goes on our determination to put him before the court

Bosses hope the new devel-
opment will add to rising vis-
itor numbers in the resort,
boosting the local economy.
Hotelier, Karen Ramshaw,
51, said: “It’s certainly a posi-
tive thing for us because it
only increases.
“The burglary he has been charged with saw a break-in occur
in a house which was occupied and many expensive antiques
stolen, which were worth more than £30,000.
“We are searching a number of areas around the country but
we have reason to believe he has been in the Blackpool area
recently. We are offering a substantial reward for any informa-
tion that leads to his arrest.”

Firecrews were called to

last night after a blaze broke

The crews used breathing
