Main functions

ECU list (1)


This list contains the supported ECUs. If the row is black that means that the ECU is supported by the tool and the
required diagnostic tool is properly installed. Gray rows mean that the ECU is supported by the tool but there is no
appropriate diagnostic tool installed.

Application list (2)


This list contains applications which can be started from KB-Starter.

Diagnostic control (3)


This group of buttons provides access to diagnostic functionalities of the selected ECU.

Operating mode selection (4)

There are two diagnostic operating mode available: real mode and demo mode.

In demo mode most functions of the diagnostic tool are available an can be tried
without connecting an ECU.

In real mode an ECU must be connected to the computer to perform diagnostics.

The required mode can be selected by clicking the arrow in the right side of the button.

Pressing the button starts the application required to perform diagnostics on the selected ECU. For supported but not
installed ECUs this button is not available.

ECU detection (5)

Pressing this buttons results that automatic ECU detection will be performed. See also: detection window

Diagnostic options (6)

If the diagnostic tool of the selected ECU requires or provides additional command line options, these options can be
activated/deactivated here. See also: diagnostic options

Additional tools (7)


UDIF software download (8)

Pressing this button launches the software upgrade tool for Universal Diagnostic Interface unit (UDIF) if the tool is
installed. Otherwise this button remains inactive.

Licence manager (9)

Pressing this button launches the license manager tool assigned to the diagnostic application of the selected ECU. If
no such tool is installed this button remains inactive.

Communication device options (10)

This button displays the communication device settings window of KB-Starter. See also Communcation device
settings

KB-Starter options (11)

This button displays the options window of KB-Starter. See also KB-Starter options

KB-Starter help (12)

This button displays this help window.

Close (13)

Exit from KB-Starter application.
