Introduction:
People who state arguments for and against the use of corporal punishment in K-12 schools have
their own solid statements for it. They present strong pros and cons for their side in the argument
that has made this matter a controversial topic for a long time now. One half of the people claim
that corporal punishment helps to keep students in discipline and the other half argue that it ruins
their mental and physical health. If we observe both of these claims closely then it looks like they
both are right. This debatable topic has lead some countries to ban corporal punishments in K-12
schools, whereas some countries still allows it but in moderation. In the context of Nepal,
corporal punishment is ordinary in K-12 schools. Students were harshly punished in the past but
nowadays the schools have been told to use corporal punishment in moderation by the governing
body.
