Education)

The report deals with the importance of the two major fields of science, anthropology and
sociology, in the field of education. While anthropology deals with the science of people and culture,
sociology on the other hand deals with the study of human social behaviour, especially the study of the
origins, organizations, institutions and development of human society.

With the vast coverage of the report, I would like to focus on the sub field of sociology, which is
educational sociology.

Educational Sociology is:

 Concerned with the influence of education on social institutions and group life of an individual

 Concerned with the human relations that operate in the school – through educational
sociology, teachers are provided with the insight in understanding specific behaviour of
students inside the classroom.

 Concerned with the relation of the school to other institutions – this primarily deals with how
the school impacts the society.

In summary, we cannot discount the fact that anthropology and sociology is very much interrelated
with the field of education. Through the understanding of human behaviours derived from these two
subfields of science, educators will have a better understanding of the learners behaviours.
