Technology that student will use to respond to questions/prompts:

☒ Computer ☐ Hand-held student response system (like iRespond) ☐ Phone ☒ Tablet (such as iPad)
☐ Other wireless device (such as iPod Touch)
Type of session:
☒ Teacher-Paced ☐ Student-Paced
Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):
☒ Remembering ☒ Understanding ☐ Applying ☐ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☒ Creating

Levels of Technology Integration:

☐ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☒ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Before the SRT, the teacher will create a presentation about all the national holidays. It will contain dates,
who celebrates these holidays, what happens on the holidays, etc. Once the teacher goes through this
presentation, he/she will put the Kahoot! on the screen for students to participate in.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☒ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Students will join the Kahoot! and begin to answer the questions about the national holidays. Since this lesson
is for kindergarteners, the teacher will read the questions and answers for students to click on the correct
color answer. As students go through the quiz, the teacher will be able to see what students know. The
teacher will need to get devices (iPads, computer room, etc.) for each student to use to complete the quiz.
After students finish the quiz, they will be able to suggest a meal for a specific holiday they choose out of four
holidays the teacher chooses.
Overall, this lesson will last 2-3 days. The first day will be the PowerPoint presentation (the introduction). The
next day will be the Kahoot! and beginning of the meal project. The final day will consist of the students
completing their suggested meal.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☒ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☐ Yes ☐ No
☒ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☐ Yes
☒ No
Why or why not?
No because the Kahoot will tell the students if they got the answer correct or not, but the teacher will not
display who got an answer wrong or right.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the activity, the students will suggest a meal for one of the four holidays the teacher chooses. The
teacher will help suggest some food items. For example, Independence Day might have hot dogs and
hamburgers. Christmas might have ham and mac n cheese. These ideas will help students think of what they
eat on different holidays of the year and how they celebrate these holidays.
How will the data be used?
This activity will be to inform the teacher of what the students know based on the national holidays. This will
tell the teacher what further instruction the students need and what the teacher will not need to go over.
This data will be used to keep progress of how students learning will grow. It will also be used to help parents
monitor their child’s progress.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
During this activity, the teacher is trying out Kahoot! for the first time with younger students. This will be a
formative assessment and help the teacher know where the students are in their learning. This activity will
help expand student’s knowledge by helping them understand and remember the national holidays.
Reflective Practice:

Student Response and Assessment Tools
This activity could help students learn more about national holidays. Some of the students might already
know these holidays, some might know one or two, and others might know none of them. The activity will
further the knowledge of most students’ knowledge of the national holidays. For example, some students
might not celebrate Christmas and therefore, not know what day of the year it falls on. Others might not
know what Juneteenth is or the reason for celebrating it. This is where this activity and project happen to
further their knowledge about the national holidays. Flipgrid could be another tool that could help enhance
this project. The students could create videos on a national holiday chosen by the teacher to inform their
classmates.
