Barangay Pingit is rich in agriculture that’s why many of

the resident here is a fishermen or a farmer and the others

has a business like a mini sari-sari store on their area,

and because it is near at the new public market some of the

residents here has a grocery on the said market and the

others has a small Stall on the wet market and sell

different kinds of fish and also fruits and vegetables. The

main livelihood of our Barangay is Agriculture because of

the mountainous and costal resources.

Introduction of the Problem

Our Barangay has student residents who are studying

as a day care, kinder, grade school, high school, senior

high school and even college. The other residents here

particularly in Grade school may have common reading

problems and as a researcher I’m going to observe and

interview my neighbours if one of their children has a

common reading problem, and to make some possible solution

to resolve this problem. Because as we all know that

developing strong reading skills in student is one of the

key goals for a student to became successful in the near

future, so the student must learn how to read properly.

Common reading problems on students especially in Grade

school pupils can be:

 Difficult to read unfamiliar words.

 Mispronounce or skips words while reading.

 Forgets words even right after being helped.

 Cannot spell the words.

 And lastly maybe the student has a tongue problem who

can’t pronounce properly the other words

B. METHODOLOGY

The Researcher uses the method interview to

gathered information. She wrote some questions regarding to

the problem. The researcher interviewed some grade school

pupils to know if they are the one who has a common reading

problem, also she interviewed some grade school Teachers to

know if they encounter some students like that. She also

made some test to know if the student can really read

properly or she/he has a common reading problem.

A. DISSCUSSION OF FINDINGS

We are all known that not everyone is a good

reader and not everyone can read. In this researched I

interviewed some respondents to know if they have a

common reading problem or someone that they know has

this. I interview 3 Respondents, a two grade school

students and a teacher. But only one of the two

students has a common reading problem. And to know it

I made some test both on English and Filipino

language, because at first those two pupils said they

can read properly and they had no common reading

problems but after doing some test I found out that

one of them has a common reading problem particularly

when reading an English one. And based on the students

and teacher I interviewed the following are the common

reading problem that some grade school pupils has:

1. Poor eyesight- The teacher said that she encountered

a student with poor eyesight and she found out that

this student can’t read properly because she/he

doesn’t see some of the text she/he was reading.

2. Because the student is cleft- One of the student I

interviewed said that one of her classmate is cleft

so it is difficult to her to read.

3. Low on self-esteem- The teacher also said that one

of the common problem in reading of grade school is

he has a low self-esteem he has no confidence on his

self so whenever he read some especially when he is

in front of the people he can’t pronounce or said

the words properly. And also it is the problem of

one of the grade school pupil I interviewed, she has

a low self-esteem so she said whenever she read in

front of her classmate she’s stammering and she

can’t read what she is going to read properly.

4. Can’t pronounce properly some consonants like “S”

“R”- Te other student said that his younger sister

on grade one has a common problem like these she

can’t pronounce the letter “r” properly so he said

maybe it is one of the common problem why her

younger sister is not good in reading.

This common reading problem can became a big

problem to them, so before it became too late they

must have to resolve it or else they may bring this

problem on the next chapter of their school life.

There can be a possible solutions for the 1 and 3

common problem the first one, the student with a

poor eye sight should go to a ophthalmologist to

help him/her with his/her eyesight. The third one

should have someone who can help him/her to overcome

his stage fright or someone who can boost his self-

esteem. The other two problems is impossible to

resolve because it is their problem since birth so

the only thing they may do is to practice how to

read properly.
5. SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

Based on the discussion of findings gathered, some

common problems can’t easily resolve it takes a long

process for it to solve. Like on the common reading

problem because of low self-esteem it takes a long

process to the student who has it to be able to overcome

this. But all in all nothing is impossible when you want

to change something, it’s on the student will if they

want to change it or if they want to overcome this common

reading problem.
6. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

The researcher concludes that reading is important

to all of us because it can be a tool for us to become

successful and also it has a big role in our everyday

life. Try to think of it the first time you open your

eyes in the morning we have to read the time in our wall

clock to know if we are late or not, even when we are

travelling reading is important to us because by that we

are able to know the directions of the place we are

heading to. Also reading is important because by that we

can know what is the latest update on our society, or

even on our nation. Reading has a lot of benefits on

everyone like it can help us to know something we are

unfamiliar with, also reading is important and

entertaining because by reading you can go to the other

place for free. Also according to a text I read during

our NAT exam, said that trough reading you can prevent or

curb the progress of Alzheimer’s disease which has been a

dangerous disease in the world, and also it motivates you

to reach your own goals especially when you read about

someone who overcome obstacles.

The researcher recommends this research for the

future researcher who may have to research this kind of

problem. Also to the parent who have a children with a

common reading problem to know what are the possible

solution that they may do to resolve it, and to the

teacher also to help their student to became a good and

skilful reader and to those children doesn’t give

importance to reading. I would like to recommend it for

them to know the importance of reading and the benefit of

it.
