The vision statement focuses on the future and what the company aspires to be. A vision

statement outlines the company's ideal future position. Simply put, a vision is a perspective on

how the future will be. Companies can have many perspectives, but they or she must have the

conviction that they are correct and communicate that perspective throughout the organization.

Which leads us to mission statements. To illustrate, Steve Jobs is considered a visionary because

his perspective came true. His perspective years before the iPhone was first introduced in 2007

was that "Mobile devices will become as important as the computer is today". Contrast this to

Steve Ballmer's perspective where he believed that "Most software development will occur for

desktop, servers, and the internet. Mobile devices will not become as important as the computer".

In Microsoft's defense, Ballmer was not wrong in his first statement. He just didn't see a mobile

device and the apps that could be built for them. He didn't foresee how mobile apps were just as

powerful and useful.

The mission statement that expresses why the given business exists, how it contributes to the

vision. Mission might not necessarily depict what company does right away, it might be slightly

future-oriented intent, but not too far in the future (maybe 1–5 years), otherwise it becomes a

vision and company loses any ground. Great mission statements are that present a common

purpose that people can aspire toward. Nike is famous for its mission statement "to bring

inspiration and innovation to every athlete* in the world (*If you have a body, you are an

athlete)". That's because not only is it an inspiring statement, but we can also relate to it, because

Nike has also included each and every one of us as the target of its mission statement.

It is important of companies to have the value statement to succeed in long run and to have a

strong corporate culture. The value is defined as a principle or belief that a person or

organization views as being of central importance. Values in a company come from the owner.
They are principles which guide how a company will function, how people within the company

will behave and what systems the company follows. The values may not be directly linked to

profits, but it helps in long run as. A company may have “customer service” as its value and this

is something that should reflect on every aspect, as service to customer, dealing with customer

issues, dealing after sales service with customer, and not only by sales person but every person in

organization i.e. right from peon, reception to all other staff should deal with customers as per

that value, and the systems, processes and environment should encourage this core value of

"customer service".
