5. Concentration of reactants at a fixed temperature
6. Instantaneous rate
7. Initial rate
8. 1/s
9. L/mol•s or L
10. Mol/L•s or mol

Activity 2: HOW AM I DIFFERENT?

Order Rate law Units of k
Zero Rate = k Mol/L•s or mol
First Rate = k [𝐴] S-1
Second Rate = k [𝐴]2 L/mol•s or L

1. What are the types of order of reaction?

- The types of order of reaction are zero, first, and second
2. Describe first-order of reaction.
- A reaction that depends on the concentration of only one reactant (a unimolecular
reaction).
3. Describe the second-order of reaction.
- The second-order of reaction is a type of chemical reaction that depends on the
concentrations of one-second order reactant or two first-order reactants.
4. Describe the zero-order of reaction.
- The zero-order of reaction is a chemical reaction in which the rate of reaction is
constant and independent of the concentration of the reacting substances.
5. Differentiate zero, first and second order of reaction.
- A zero-order reaction proceeds at a constant rate, a first-order reaction rate depends
on the concentration of one of the reactants while the second-order reaction rate is
proportional to the square of the concentration of a reactant or the product of the
concentration of two reactants.

Reflection:
1. I learned that there are different rate laws and order of reaction. Rate laws expresses
the reaction rate as a function of reactant concentrations, product concentrations and
temperature. While order of reaction is a reaction can also be described in terms of the
order of each reactant.
2. I enjoyed most on reading the background information for the learners.
3. I want to learn more on this topic.

1. COLLISION =a
2. PROPER ORIENTATION =c
3. EFFECTIVE COLLISION =b
4. ACTIVATION ENERGY =e
5. SUFFICIENT ENERGY =d

Activity 2: TRUE OR FALSE

1. FALSE, Qualitatively
2. TRUE
3. TRUE
4. TRUE
5. FALSE, 3 basic requirements present

Activity 3: ESSAY
1. The reactants either may be moving too slowly to have enough kinetic energy to
exceed the activation energy for the reaction, or the orientation of the molecules when
they collide may prevent the reaction from occurring.
2. Many chemical reactions, and almost all biochemical reactions do not occur
spontaneously and must have an initial input of energy (called the activation energy)
to get started. Activation energy must be considered when analyzing both endergonic
ad exergonic reactions.
3. In terms of the collision theory, increasing the concentration of a reactant increases in
the number of collisions between the reacting species per second and therefore
increases the reaction rate.
4. There will be a chemical reaction. But, if proper orientation is not present even though
there is sufficient energy to initiate the reaction, then there will be no chemical
reaction.
5. I agree since according to collision theory, the rate at which molecules collide will
have an impact on the overall reaction rate. The more molecules present, the more
collisions will happen.

Reflection:
1. I learned that there are 3 basic requirements to have an effective collision which is the
reactants must collide with each other, the molecules must have the sufficient energy
to initiate a reaction and the molecules must have a proper orientation.
2. I enjoyed most on answering the crossword puzzle and the activity 5 which is spilling
the message.
3. I want to learn more on this particular topic.
