1. INTRODUCTION

JSW Infrastructure has an operating capacity of 154 MTPA and operates environment-
friendly seaports and terminals in Maharashtra, Goa, Orissa, Karnataka, and Tamil Nādu
in India and Fujairah in UAE that offer mechanized and multi-cargo handling facilities
to its customers.
Jaigarh Port is operated by JSW Jaigarh Port, an SPV of JSW Infrastructure. The
Company was created to develop the port, on a build-own-operate-share-transfer
(BOOST) basis, under a 50-year concession licensed by the State Government of
Maharashtra.
JSW Jaigarh Port started operations in 2009 by handling coal import vessels for JSW
Energy's thermal power plant located at Jaigarh.
True to the vision of the Group, JSW Jaigarh Port has since expanded its commercial
operations to service the requirements of various other industries as well.
JSW Jaigarh Port is the first deep water, 24/7 operational private port in Maharashtra.
Inaugurated in August 2009, JSW Jaigarh Port was built in a record time of 20 months.
This greenfield, all-weather port occupies a strategic location on the west coast, as it is
situated between the ports of Mumbai and Goa.
JSW Jaigarh Port Limited (JSWJPL), a subsidiary of JSW Infrastructure Ltd., has
developed
an all-weather multi-commodity Greenfield port.
JSWJPL currently operates 6 berths including 5 Bulk berths and one coastal shipping
berth. The present combined capacity of the 4 berths is 50 MTPA. In addition, one LNG
berth to the extreme west is ready for operations with a Floating Storage Regasification
Unit (FSRU) vessel moored at the berth.
M/s JSW has proposed to set up an LPG Import Terminal at Jaigarh Port with facilities
for pipeline transfer of LPG from tanker to terminal storage, and dispatch of LPG from
terminal by road tankers.

2. The Proposed Project:

The development of a Cryogenic Propane/Butane/LPG Terminal with allied facilities for

storage, Handling and distribution, and Export of products. including New Jetty
Construction, Product Jetty Pipelines, unloading facilities, Allied Machinery, and
Loading Gantries for onward Distribution by Road and Sea at the existing plot of the
company allotted by the JSW.
JSW has proposed an expansion of the LPG Phase-II terminal in JSW Jaigarh Port.
The Gas storage terminal will have connectivity to the Jetty through dedicated pipelines.
The storage facility will comprise two Cryogenic Atmospheric tanks of capacity 23000
MT each of Propane & Butane and shall be constructed as per the applicable PESO,
OISD, NFPA, and API recommendations, with all the safety features and the Fire
Fighting Facilities as per international industry standards.

5.2 Definitions
UPS: An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is defined as a piece of electrical equipment that
can be used as an immediate power source to the connected load when there is a failure in
the main input power source.

Date: 07-07-2023 Rev. A

Doc. No. LPG-1102-E-EL-CAL-006

DC-UPS: A DC-UPS is an uninterruptible power system that takes in primary power (usually
utility AC) and outputs DC voltage while providing backup power from the integrated batteries
in the event the incoming (utility AC) power is lost.

6. BASIS OF DESIGN

6.1 Purpose
The DC auxiliary power supply is required in a terminal unit to ensure that the critical equipment remains
in operation continuously even while the primary AC supply is interrupted. When a circuit breaker opens
to interrupt the power supply in a radial feeder, this leads to interruption of the power supply to the
circuit breaker itself.

For this, the battery bank stores the energy with the help of an appropriate charger and supplies the
DC loads continuously or during power failure via the DC distribution system under proper monitoring
and control as per requirement.

6.2 Design Basis and Requirements

An auxiliary DC power system that consists of a charger, battery bank, DC distribution system, and
monitoring system is a critical part of the primary/secondary substation. It is directly associated with the
mechanism of fault detection, trip coil operation, remote operation, etc. Standalone, 110-V DC UPS
with active redundancy will be provided to ensure resilience, which consists of two rectifiers/chargers
connected in parallel, blocking diode, and will have Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) batteries.

6.3 Ambient conditions

The ambient conditions to be considered for the calculations are as follows:
Table 6-1 Site Conditions
Parameter Values
Altitude Less than 1000 Mtr. Above sea level
Minimum/ Maximum ambient air temperature 15.9˚C /35.4 ˚C
Indoor temperature in Air-Conditioned Spaces 30˚C
Relative humidity 10-100 %
Design temperature 35˚C

6.4 Design conditions

The design conditions to be considered for the calculations are as follows:
Table 6-2 System Parameters
Parameter Values
Nominal input Voltage 415V ±10%, 3ph, 4 wire, 50 Hz ±2%
Nominal Output Voltage 110V±10%, 2 wire
Maximum DC Voltage 121V
Minimum DC Voltage 88V
Battery Design temperature 25˚C
Battery Autonomy time 30 minutes

Parameter Values
Minimum Design Life of Batteries 10 years at 25˚C
Aging Factor 1.25
Design margin for Battery 1.1
The nominal cell voltage of Battery 2.23V
The end cell voltage of Battery 1.85V

Battery Proposal

Calculated Capacity : 87.35

Proposed Battery Model : 1 x 52 x T-100 HP
Nominal Capacity : 100 Ah

Battery Settings

1. Minimum System Voltage = Number of Cells x ECV = 91 V

2. Maximum System Voltage during Float = Number of Cells x 2.23 = 115.96 V
3. Maximum System Voltage during Boost = Number of Cells x 2.32 = 120.64 V

Ventilation of Lead Acid Batteries as per Standard BS EN 50272

For a 110 V battery composed of 52 cells T-100 HP operating on float charge, air flow rate of 0.26 m3/h is
required for proper ventilation and to maintain the hydrogen concentration below 4% vol of the available free
space.

For a 110 V battery composed of 52 cells T-100 HP operating on boost charge, air flow rate of 2.08 m3/h is
required for proper ventilation and to maintain the hydrogen concentration below 4% vol of the available free
space.

Ventilation of Lead Acid Batteries as per Standard BS EN 50272

For a 110 V battery composed of 52 cells T-100 HP operating on float charge, air flow rate of 0.26 m3/h is
required for proper ventilation and to maintain the hydrogen concentration below 4% vol of the available free
space.

For a 110 V battery composed of 52 cells T-100 HP operating on boost charge, air flow rate of 2.08 m3/h is
required for proper ventilation and to maintain the hydrogen concentration below 4% vol of the available free
space.
