Suggestions:

• Ask the pupils how we detect the changes around us.


Ask the pupils to state how many sensory organs we have.

• In this part the following question is asked to the pupils:


1. What is the structure of the human eye?
2. What are the functions of the different parts of the eye?

Suggestions:Inform the pupils about the goal of this lesson.

Exploration Summary:
The pupils are presented with an interactive activity, which aims to show the responses of our
eyes in different amounts of light conditions.
According to the different amount of light conditions, the size of the pupil changes. The
brighter the light, the smaller the size of the pupil or vice versa.
Suggestions:

• Ask the pupils to discuss how the pupil responses in bright and dim light conditions.
Then, click on the "+" button to increase the brightness of the lamp, and watch the
animation.

• Group the pupils in pairs. And then, ask the pupil to close one of the eyes of his/her
friend for a few seconds. After opening their eyes, ask pupils to explain the
differences of the size of the pupil.

Explanation 1 Summary:
An animation is displayed in order to demonstrate the structures of the human eye and their
functions:

• The eye is located in the eye socket of the skull.


• The supportive organs of the human eye consist of eyelids, eyelashes, eyebrow and
tear glands.·
• The eyelids block foreign particles and excessive light. The flow of tears is provided
with blinking.·
• The eyelashes and the eyebrow protect our eyes from dust and sweat.
• The tear glands provide moisture for the eye. They also help remove foreign particles.
Strong emotions trigger the tear glands.

Suggestions:

• Ask the pupils the functions of different parts of the human eye.

• Ask the pupils to discuss what we may do when foreign particles enter our eyes.
