CHAPTER 1 – INTRODUCTION

1.1 ABSTRACT

Atmosphere and space are realities where there was a need for the human being to
develop its Race of communication, transportation and International business with the
help of the Aeronautics and Aerospace industry.
“ Space exploration is a really important factor of human species considering its
survival also it is very helpful for generating new technologies for the daily needs of
every person. ”

The thesis discusses promoting Space exploration awareness by developing an

AeroAstro Institute astronaut training centre that generates opportunities by offering a
platform for young students, engineers, scientists also by establishing an interactive/
relaxation program for visitors as a response to conventional tourism using sustainable
technologies.

1.3 - PROJECT JUSTIFICATION

1.3.1 NEED OF THE PROJECT

India is rising space power and its notable achievements in the space industry should be
promoted in the society. Providing more of a practical learning process can be helpful for
achieving excellence in the field of aeoautics and astronautics.
The astronaut training center in india for future manned missions would cater all the
requirements for the training.
The Gaganyaan Programme envisages undertaking the demonstration of human spaceflight
to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) in the short-term and will lay the foundation for a sustained
Indian human space exploration programme in the long run.
The objective of Gaganyaan programme is to demonstrate indigenous capability to
undertake human space flight mission to LEO.
As part of this programme, two unmanned missions and one manned mission are approved
by Government of India (GoI).
The Human spaceflight programme has both tangible and intangible benefits for the nation,
which includes:
• Progress towards a sustained and affordable human and robotic programme to
explore the solar system and beyond.
• Advanced technology capability for undertaking human space exploration, sample
return missions and scientific exploration.
• Future capability to actively collaborate in global space station development & to
carry out scientific experiments of interest to the nation.
• Create a broad frame work for wider Academia – Industry partnership in taking up
development activities for national development.
• Ample scope for employment generation and human resource development in
advanced science and R&D activities.
• Unique opportunity to inspire and excite Indian youth and steer many students
toward careers in science and technology towards challenging jobs that encourage
knowledge, innovation and creativity.

11

• The programme will strengthen international partnerships and global security

through the sharing of challenging and peaceful goals. Having a vibrant human
spaceflight programme can be leveraged as a potent foreign policy tool.

1.4 – AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

1.4.1 AIM

• The study aims to promote Space studies, research and awareness about the
Indian as well as worldwide Space Exploration.
• Designing an Area where study and research would be carried out by designing
practical model and experiential based spaces Open to general public as well
on time based accessibility.
• Focus on creating interest in the society for space and the achievements in the
aerospace industry and improvement in tourism.
• Creating the astronaut training hub which would cater all the requirements
which are required for the space mission hence would be India’s first training
centre.

1.4.2 OBJECTIVES –

• To provide laboratories and experiment labs to carry out the practical methods
of learning
• To combine the institutional study study area, museum, astronaut training
centre with the time based work.
• To provide experiential and recreational facilities for visitors to give an
experience of the Space Exploration Achievements.
• Providing imaginative and creative public experiences & learning spaces.
• Learning and experiencing their Situations & knowing their profession
through workshops.
