Course Description
Music is both an aural and a temporal art. All its elements, when interwoven in the highest artistic order, are likened into a -- tapestry moving in time.
The global weavings of this tapestry in historical and cultural contexts are diverse -- having spurred a continued metamorphosis to include a full
range of purposes, functions, and identities, from the utilitarian to aesthetic
Grade Level Standard
The learner demonstrates basic understanding of the fundamental processes in music and the arts through performing, creating, listening and
observing, and responding towards appreciation of the cultural richness of the different provinces in the Philippines
Grading System
Written Outputs: 20% of grade Performance Tasks: 60% of grade Quarterly Assessments: 20% of grade

Performance Task
Goal - To make a short production number presenting the different folk songs and folk music in the Philippines.
Role– You are a performer. (Singer and Dancer)
Audience – Music Teacher and Students of Holy Cross of College of Calinan
Situation – Long before, Filipinos already had a rich and unique musical tradition. According to the Philippine Ethnic Music, ethnic music continues
to thrive in the Philippines, particularly among indigenous people that comprises 10 percent of the country’s population and represented
by more than 100 language groups from the mountains of northern Luzon as well as from Mindanao, Sulu, Palawan and Mindoro in
southern and western Philippines. . In order to experience the unique ethnic music in Luzon, you are tasked to choose any of Luzon’s
music and perform this with appropriate pitch, rhythm, expression, and style to appreciate Filipino culture with pride and novelty across
the nation.
