HAMILTON // PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

LITERARY ELEMENTS

 PLOT

 POFTO – There was a girl named Christine, she has a very nice
voice and captured the heart of the Phantom. The Phantom helps
Christine to improve her voice and he also threatens the opera
house so that the lead roles will be given to the young lady.
Unexpectedly, Christine and her childhood friend met and fall for
each other. They decided to get married and the Phantom was
really heartbroken. He was so angry and kidnaps the lady but the
Viscount saves her lady from the villain.
 HAMILTON – The movie started with the life of Alexander
Hamilton before the American revolution. Hamilton experienced
lot of sufferings and hardships that eventually led him to be well-
known. He was able to study because the people on their island
help him. When Hamilton went to New York, he met Burr who
advices him not to be outspoken about politics. However,
Hamilton did the opposite. He voice out his opinions about the
revolution. Later on, Hamilton met Eliza whom she marries.

 SUSPENSE

 POFTO – It was thrilling since the Phantom didn’t really


reveal his true identity and face. It made the audience
excited about his next moves to help Christine. The movie
was really thrilling since it’s about obsession.
 The movie is patriotic which people who like politics will
surely love this. The story of Hamilton is indeed inspiring and
motivational.

 CONFLICT
 Pofto – Christine and the Phantom becomes enemy in
the last part. The Phantom’s obsession towards
Christine leads him to abduct the talented lady and
was saved by the Viscount, Christine’s lover at the
latter part.
 Hamilton - Alexander Hamilton is the protagonist and
the enemy is Aaron Burr. Because of the issue in
politics, Burr challenges Hamilton to a duel.

TECHNICAL ELEMENTS

 SCENERY
 POFTO – The set has a castle background that it looks like a
fairytale and a renaissance period. The mood is uncanny and
thrilling.
 HAMILTON- The set used appropriate backdrops that
conveys the setting of the play – monarchy era.
 COSTUME
 POFTO – The costumes are patterned to renaissance period, the
woman is wearing a crown, and men are often wearing hat and a
cape. They are also wearing a vest and the Phantom is wearing a
mask.
 HAMILTON- The girls are wearing corsets and gowns while men
are wearing suits which is inspired to the clothing of monarchy
period.

 MAKE UP
 POFTO – Behind the mask of the Phantom, there is a scar there
that was created by an artist to look like an awful scar. Women
had a make-up which highlights their beautiful features.
 HAMILTON- They have simple make-up that we can see on
normal people.

 PROPERTIES
 POFTO – There is a box there that was full of different jewelleries.
The main character picks up a mirror from that box. There is also a
smoke that makes the stage foggy.
 HAMILTON- They have a wine glass since there is a party on the
movie. Mostly, you can see papers since it is political.

 LIGHTING
 POFTO – Fresnel

PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS

 ACTING
 Pofto and Hamilton- Acting was really on-point. The facial
expressions and emotions of the actors connect to the
audience.

 VOCAL EXPRESSION
 POFTO – The quality of the voice is magnificent and it suits
to the song very well. Moreover, it is powerful and they
have operatic voices.
