STEM 2B – SEDES SAPIENTIAE

“Kaldereta”

A woman from Capiz with two children found out that her OFW husband is cheating on
her with his co-worker. At first she did not want to believe it but one of their friends that
is also working at the same country with his husband shows a picture of him and his
mistress. The woman became depressed after learning that the father of his children,
the guy she loved, had cheated on her.
Every Christmas season, her husband is scheduled to return home. And then the time
flew by, her husband is now set to go home the day before Christmas and she was on
her way to the airport to pick him up. Before leaving, she already prepared Kaldereta,
her husband's favorite dish, as well as a few other dishes for their Noche Buena.
When he arrived at the airport, he saw his wife waved at him with sweetly smiling and
welcoming him with a tender hug. He felt terrible about just what he was doing at work.
But he merely shook his head and did not seem to mind.
When they arrived at the home, it was already dawn, and the fragrance of kaldereta as
well as other meals delighted him as his stomach began to rumble because of not
eating the whole day. He just started to put his stuff and other things in their room up
stairs as his wife is arranging and preparing the table for Noche Buena. He accidentally
went to sleep unconsciously because of tiredness and hunger while arranging his stuff
and did not even notice the time.
He opened his eyes when he heard his wife’s voice calling her and gently shaking his
body.
“Gising na at ikaw ay mag bihis dahil, mag a-alas dose na” The woman said while
smiling so sweetly.
They both laughed when they heard his stomach rumbling with hunger.
Before going downstairs, he went to the bathroom and took a quick half-bath and
changed his clothes. The table was already set up for two people, and despite his
confusion, he simply disregarded it.
“mauna ka ng kumain at ako ay mag bibihis muna, alam kong gutom na gutom ka na”
his wife said then she went upstairs.
He excitedly get a plate and rice and he tried every dish that his wife prepared for him.
While he was eating he heard his wife’s footsteps through the stair.
“Halika na at sabayan mo akong kumain at nang makapag kwentuhan din tayo” he said
to his wife
“Sandali kukunin ko lang yung paborito mong kaldereta kanina ko pa kasing umaga
niluto yun ininit ko na lang ngayon” She replied
While she is serving him his favorite kaldereta, the man cannot stop staring at his wife
and then he felt guilty again because of how his wife changed a lot. It must been hard
for her taking care of the responsibilities in their house while also taking care of their
children.
“Ang sarap mo pa din mag luto Hon,napaka swerte ko talaga sa’yo” He said while
eating, the woman just stared at him with a no emotion face.
“oo nga pala Hon, mag a-alas dose na bakit wala pa yung mga bata?” He asked whie
looking at his wrist watch.
“Nandito lang sila” she replied and smiled creepily.
He look at his plate and froze realizing what his wife meant.
