    Bata Shoes

    Bata India is one of the leading manufacturers retailers of footwear in the Indian subcontinent. The
    company is a part of Bata Shoe Organization which was found in 1894 in Zlin, Moravia and is
    headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland.

    The company was originally set up as the Bata Shoe Company Private Limited in the year 1931 in
    Konnagar (near Calcutta).

    The initial site doubled in operations in the upcoming years and the township came to be known as
    Batanagar. The site was the first one in India to receive an ISO: 9001 certification.

    In the year 1973 the company went public and changed the name to Bata India Limited.

    It has a retail network of 1375 stores and over 30,000 dealers. Additionally, it also caters to a large
    non-retail distribution network via urban wholesale division.
