tantalium, it is named after Tantalus, a villain
from Greek mythology.

Swedish chemist Anders Ekeberg,
who extracted the metal from
mineral samples.

DISCOVER TANTALUM ?
Ekeberg discovered the oxide of tantalum in
1802, isolating it from samples of two different
minerals, specifically, tantalite from Kimito,
Finland and yttrotantalite from Ytterby,
Sweden

USEDOF TANTALUM

tantalum's use is for electrolytic capacitors and


vacuum furnace parts. The element is also
used to make chemical process equipment,
nuclear reactors, aircraft and missile parts.
