THORIUM

Thorium is a weekly radioactive metal element with the symbol (Th) and atomic
number 90 and belongs to period 7. Thorium is silvery and tarnishes black when it is
exposed to air, forming thorium dioxide; it is moderately soft, malleable, and has a high
melting point.
THORIUM
Jons Jakob Berzelius
FOUNDER OF THORIUM Baron Jons Jakob
Berzelius(1779-1848) was a
swedesh chemist. He
discovered Thorium metal. He
is considered as one of the
founders of the modern
chemistry. He has also
discovered Selenium, Silicon,

URANIIUM

Uranium is a chemical element with the symbol (U) and atomic number 92. It is a
silvery-grey metal in the actinide series of the periodic table. It was discovered by
Martin Heinrich Klaproth. A uranium atom has 92 protons and 92 electrons, of which 6
are valence electrons.
URANIUM

FOUNDER OF URANIUM Martin Heinrich Klaproth
was a German chemist. He
trained and worked for much
of his life as an apothecary,
moving in later life to
university. He discovered
Uranium, Zirconium,
Tellurium, Cerium, Beryllium.

RADIUM

Radium is a chemical element with the symbol (Ra) and atomic number 88. Pure
Radium is silvery-white but really reacts with nitrogen on exposure to air, forming a
black surface layer of radium nitride. It was discovered by Marie Curie and Pierre
Curie. It is sixth element in group 2 of the periodic table, also known as the alkaline
earth metals.
