Deralakatte
is organizing Poster and Video competition
On the occasion of "World Suicide Prevention Month "-
September 2021

Introduction

More than 7,00,000 people die by suicide every year, which is one person every
40 seconds. Suicide is a global phenomenon and occurs throughout the lifespan.

Effective and evidence-based interventions can be implemented at population,

sub-population and individual levels to prevent suicide and suicide attempts.
Hence, we, the Department of Psychiatry at K S Hegde are organising the below
mentioned events to create awareness and reduce the risk of suicide

There are indications that for each adult who died by suicide there may have
been more than 20 others attempting suicide.

“Every death is a tragedy for family, friends and colleagues. Yet suicides are
preventable”
