1. For each sentence, choose a variety of "used to", "be used to" or "get used to". Use the verb in the brackets
to make the sentence.
a. European drivers find it difficult to GET USED TO (drive) on the left when they visit Britain.

2. Complete the sentences with didn’t need to or needn’t have and the verbs in the list.

7. Fill the gap in each sentence with despite, in spite of, although or even though.
a. EVEN THOUGH we are a small company, we sell almost a hundred machines a month.
b. DESPITE all the difficulties, the project started on time and was a success.
c. ALTHOUGH we were warned against doing so, we went ahead with the project.
d. DESPITE his lack of experience, he became a successful businessman.
e. EVEN THOUGH being by far the oldest player, he scored three goals.
f. ALTHOUGH he's a millionaire, he drives a second-hand car.
g. EVEN THOUGH it rained a lot, I enjoyed the holiday.
h. ALTHOUGH working for the company for six months now, he never seems to know what to do.
9. Complete the sentences using despite, in spite of, although, even though or however.
a. DESPITE the watch was expensive, he bought it.
b. We went out EVEN THOUGH the rain.
c. We went out ALTHOUGH it was raining.
d. DESPITE my husband didn't like the movie, I enjoyed it a lot.
e. He passed the test. HOWEVER he didn't get the job.
